Nah thats a mistake in the Boxrec article, it will be 29.95 for the lot according to the matchroom press release

Isn't it basically the same as what's all ready available on youtube etc but 'live' and 29.95?

And I'd assume most of the shows will be competing against a better quality show on BN.

A decent idea, but I won't be paying for these cards, I'll catch highlights at some point if a decent fight warrants it.

I think this means that if you dont register for the full year you can still buy individual fight cards, but thats just a guess.

does anyone know who these 3 guys have in their stable?

Don't really understand who this is actually aimed at. At the moment all Coldwell and VIp shows are streamed for free so now we are expected to pay for them? Has to be aimed at hardcore fans but your basically paying £30 for a t shirt and ringside esq show with Kugan Cassius

There should be exclusive interviews/catalouge of old fights and ticket priority which could be worthwhile if he continues to make the big shows.This seems a little overpriced but I like the concept and it could work and also you would hope the quality of the shows will be even better with them all working together so the whole package might work for me as it was a pain in the arse to get tickets for the last 3 Froch fights.

Can see your point about those shows being free. It seems the point is to help those promoters by improving their shows by having Matchroom fighters on there and having a bit more money to make them better quality.

Have to agree with what Barry Hearn said about it providing a structure for fighters to move up to bigger shows.

Sounds interesting and there will be a lot more opinions from posters to come after launch.

On paper its an excellent idea just possibly a little overpriced and will have teething problems. If another Wembley show comes up whats to stop touts paying £30 and buying all the good seats before they even go on sale, could end up with bigger problems than before

Fwank did it years ago for £40. It didn't take off.

I think it would only be 2 or maybe 4 tickets per membership which should help the situation

That's an absolute fact. Gone will be having to wait until a certain night to watch your series. It will be uploaded in blocks of shows and you'll pick what to watch in your own time, when you want it.

Only live shows will be audience participation ones (X factor ) the news and live sports.

Sky will end up just an app on your smart TV eventually.

I read recently that under-21 year olds are choosing Netflix etc over a hard wired sky system something like 4-1 because it's portable. It can be viewed on TV , tablet, etc anywhere and is a huge hit with students etc.

Hence sky getting involved with their Now TV Internet solution. Sadly live sports via now are 480p not HD which is a bit wank. But it will get better as speeds and tech improves.

Saw a interview with Eddie and kugan earlier he said the pass included a minimum of 10 shows per year not

Did Matchroom say who they have partnered with to provide the service? The actual technical side.

I subscribe to the UFC's Fight Pass and the quality on video on that is tremendous. Earlier today, I was watching the Robert Drysdale fight from last Sunday's show and it's just like watching it on TV.

If you like MMA the UFC's service is worth it just for the archive alone. The entire Zuffa video library is up (that's every UFC, Pride, Elite XC, Affliction and Strikeforce show) and is accessible both as whole events and on a fight by fight basis. They also have come to a deal to air Invicta FC events from here on out and so the whole Invicta FC library is up as well.

I wonder what kind of archive the Matchroom version will have. Are we talking just Fight Nights from the last few years or are we talking every event that Matchroom has promoted over the years. I don't know how much of a lure the archive will be to your average fan but an extensive archive would be something that would be a selling point to me.

I can see it being well worth it on a few levels. The smaller hall promoters who don't have tv will surely benefit from this financially. Matchroom and all of the promoters involved will also work together to get some of the less appealing (with respect) fights transferred to the smaller hall guys, where that fight might actually make a decent undercard fight because of the profile or the potential of that boxer. Essentially I think fights like Paul Smith v Jamie Ambler or Gamal Yafai's fights would end up taking place on a Coldwell, Wood or Goodwin promoted show as a chief support to an English or Area title fight and streamed via the channel. Rather than being bottom of the card on a Matchroom show. Obviously this does happen already, but it's an indication to me that it could happen more.

Steve Goodwin and Olivia Goodwin do post here so if they can tell me whether I'm in the right ballpark with what I have just wrote that would be great.

Matchroom wouldn't do it if wasn't worth their while. But really I can't see me paying for it. Smart move by eddie though. Interested to see if Kugan can front a show - good at interviewing but presenting is a different skill.

You have got this about right. We have total control over our shows with our best fights and fighters appearing on the Matchroom pass shows. Matchroom may well have some of their fighters on our shows and gives some of our fighters the opportunity to go on their shows.

In my opinion its a win/win and I think the annual cost is very fair. I feel it will be a big success and was a no brainer for us to become a part of

New technology is always coming out and reducing file sizes, at worst they'd have a bit of a buffer period before the show began (nowadays you don't see this as they show a commercial as it loads up).

It's not dissimilar to Sky anytime, where you que up a film and it begins to download -then when you have 3 minutes worth of footage it will allow you to press play on it, its just you might need 5 or 6 minutes before you press play in the worst case.

The only thing that is exponential is that the average TV screen sizes get bigger and bigger, increasing the need for a better and better image (and bigger file size) . We have gone from 24" to 32", to 42 and now it's 55"+ is the regular choice for new TV buyers.

I think 4-5 years is a VERY optimistic. Think of all the old people who don't have internet/know how to use it/or dont'twant to know how to use it but still want to see corrie. The freeview boxes caused a right plalaver down here. Also will licence payers who aren't online be entitled to subsidised/free Internet set up

No, it means that the price to buy an individual card hasn't been announced. The price for the year is £29.95.
