Sexton got knocked out in sparring by McDermott. John is too much of a risk for AJ right now. 6 months is about right.

Is that a rumour or a fact?

Joshua is a potential world champion. Its pointless rushing him too fast, he needs a steady queue of half decent British opponents, then a few Easter Europeans. There is a lot of potential in Joshua and I guess someone is spending a lot of money on him.

I think the steady progress he has shown is good. He needs a good top 5 British opponent, Josh could walk over the damn lot of em in England, and could easily win the British title now. Is he going to fight for the British title or go the Euro route to a world title fight? Its early days, another 5 or 6 fights slowly building him up will give us a good clash at some point where there is money to be made and a bit of excitement for us. Its all well and good saying Josh should be fighting A,B, C and D but what makes you think that these guys actually want to be knocked out?

Another 12 months another 5 fights and we will know what the deal is. Then lets start shouting he should be fighting, etc etc etc

One thing that is positive is how much notice Sprott has been given a boatload of notice.

100% fact.

The problem with rushing Joshua now is not that he couldn't beat the domestic gatekeepers like Sexton, McDermott and Sprott but more that when he does you then have to almost immediately put him in with the likes of Chisora, Price and Fury and other European level operators to continue his development and I think it's too soon for him to be operating at that level. We saw what happened with Price when he stepped up too soon. No need to rush.

I think he is doing really well. However the stiffness comes from the muscle mass. He will lack a certain flexibility of movement. Bruno was very similar in that he was doing swimming and all sorts to loosen up, and at best was only partially successful. There could well be stamina related issues in long fights. I would imagine Tony Thompson will be avoided until he gets to pension age! Lol

I think he'd beat Price if they fought in a few fights time, like. I do like Price but I don't see one thing he does better than AJ, and obviously he'd be massively susceptible to AJ's power.

Yes you're probably right, although Joshua would have take a few good whacks coming in. It's hard to really evaluate Joshua, especially after the unexpected collapse of Price v Thompson. Price after all had motored through decent domestic opposition including Sexton in far more impressive fashion than Chisora managed.

Let's see if he can take a shot first because he'd have to to beat Price in my view. As I say, there is no need to rush him at the moment. He's very young in any fighter's terms but he's a baby at heavyweight and has a decade or more ahead of him.

Steve, I understand what you are saying, my concern is that there is no one in the UK that can touch him, so do we throw him in at British title level after 5 fights? 20 years ago Jushua would just have been another up and coming young pro, making his way on small hall cards, and maybe a minor bill slot in America. We have here the best British heavyweight at the present time. He's better than fury by a mile. I know others will disagree but fury has no class or punch, hes just an uneducated heavyweight thatsa talking his way to a title shot. He proberly knows hes only domestic level but hes in a fortunate position that the division is full of garbage. 20 years ago Fury would have not got past the the Area Title, and thats a bloody fact.

Keep Josh slowly his time is almost here.

20 years ago fury would not have got past area title level??? Now I have heard some utter shite on this board but to beat this comment it will take something special. Probably beats out or is equal to saf, the best of comments.

No, that is the opposite of a fact.

A consensus top 5 world ranked heavyweight would be stuck at Area level 20 years ago? Would a British version of Wladimir Klitschko be good enough to win the Lonsdale belt back then?

At the moment yes - Price hits harder than Joshua and Joshuas defence is not all that.

Which consensus is this, Horse? Could you provide a link?

Fury in the 1990s would be even more of a novelty act than he is now. That he's talked himself into contention without a significant win says everything about today's heavyweight division.

Are you serious? That's a consensus vote? Checkhook boxing? Ringtv, who once ranked Felix Sturm and Art Abraham in the all-time middleweights, who have Perez down at 10 and Fury so far above him? It would've been less laughable if you had quoted some of your beloved scripture.

I'm actually embarrassed for you.

What's wrong with Perez being at 10 and Fury being significantly above him? I think 10 may even be generous to Perez considering how he looked in his last fight (a clear loss in my view).

I'm not sure if Fury is consensus top 5, as there are too many rankings to check, but in most HW top 10s I see he's ranked in or near the upper half.
