Cause i can't go. The Nottingham arena box office said the fight card is still on and froch is still defending his championship

They've probably got the old "subject to change" clause on the back of the tickets.

This is a point I have made before.

Its funny how the headline fighter's opponent always get "injured" etc only a few days before a fight (as opposed to weeks before) ...once all the tickets have been sold.

Its all a huge scam.

Scenario....

Advertise Hatton vs Cotto ...people go mad for the overpriced tickets and buy them all up making the promoter a huge sum. Then suddenly Cotto is "unavailble" and WBZ Champion 'Carlos Wankalot' steps in instead for the fight...

No refund on the tickets you bought for Cotto people... the card is subject to change, so tough shit...

Yes, the question to be asked in lieu of a whole sequence of last minute top of the bill cancellations this year (i.e., after many would have already purchased tickets for the main event) is: should ticket money be refunded if a main event falls through?
This came to light - again - after Real Deal was fobbed off by the Nottingham Arena when he requested his money back after Carl Froch's double title clash with Tony Dodson was scuppered for the second time in two months (Dodson pulled out injured both times at very late notice).
According to Chris, the box office department of the arena informed him that because there was still a fight card taking place, he had no grounds for a refund, which is a bit like telling a Rolling Stones fan that there is still a support band after The Stones have cried off sick.
This year has been particularly bad for main events falling through at the last minute (think of Hatton-Pinto, Eastman-Sendra, Harrison-Popov, Witter-Battaglia, and Takaloo-Duran, to name but a few), and while the promoters and venues cover themselves with 'Fights are subject to change', I think main events should be excepted from this small print.
Once again, boxing fans get the shit end of the stick.
