I'm glad he finally leaves USA, but why didn't he want to leave USA to fight a still-active Froch who had just defeated Kessler?
Honestly, I think Kessler has a chance to KO Ward here, Ward won't be allowed to headbutt and hold this time, and if he has to rely on his speed and skills to avoid Kessler's punches, I think he could tire very quickly.
Kessler is Going to get beat no matter where the fight is. Froch is just way to slow for Ward n he too would get beat. Ward is simply a better athlete and works extremely hard. Basically beat Froch with a broken hand

I'm glad that Ward is fighting again and good he's willing to travel to get one.
The Danish love Mikel so a large audience will be up for it and interest is there especially due to ending of the first fight.
Yes Kessler has seen FAR better days and Ward could well have a field day with him but it's still a decent fight that I want to watch.

If your the champ then your opponents have to go take the belts. Klitschko fighting in Europe as a Heavyweight champ isn't the same as him fighting in America. I feel if Klitschko fought in America then he would probably be bigger than what is over in Europe. Since America is to boxing to what Europe is to Soccer.

LOL yea same. I'd say America is to boxing to what American is to soccer. I don't think America is behind either sport all that much & I'd probably say more Americans dig soccer than boxing nowadays as discouraging as that sounds to me.

There's an irrational hate for Andre Ward that exceeds normal levels of hate. Andre Ward never behaves like an asshole. He is more professional than 99% of the boxers in the game. Yet, he gets as much heat on this forum as idiots like Floyd and Broner.
If Andre Ward was from England, and fought the exact same way, he'd be a national icon and topics like this would be deleted within 5 minutes.
He'd also not get any credit from guys like you because he hadn't fought in the US yet.
Sorry buddy.
I don't care where a fight happens. As long as the best fight the best, I'm good. So, if Ward were British, I'd have nothing but respect for him because he has fought and dominated the best.
That's why the "he won't go to Europe" people have lost in all of their bitching. Ward has fought and dominated the BEST. Based on the way he has won, it is clear that the "Ward won't travel" people are simply nitpicking or simply hating on his success because he is that good.

Also, I get that some people don't like Christians. However, to hate someone because they are proud of their Christianity is so hypocritical and stupid. That makes you equally judgmental and ignorant.
Ward's nickname is "Son of God", so f'ing what? Among many Christian denominations, that is just like saying Andre "Believes in God" Ward. It is a meaningless title, and if you ask him, he'd tell you some BS like we are all children of God. I can't be the only one who knows Christians or was raised Christian and have heard that talk before.
Come off it. Just say that you don't like Ward and insert the real reason. All of this bullshit is beyond stupid. If you think Ward is boring, then go to comedians, actors and entertainers for your comedy and drama. Ward is one of the few fighters who isn't trying to be a reality TV star and he gets crap for it. Sometimes I don't know if I'm talking about boxing with men or reality show stars who high school girls.
Shit is so stupid, you guys got Wlad trying out reality TV tactics with Shannon Briggs. Cut that shit out! Let's watch and focus on what happens IN THE RING, or we run the serious risk of more Adrien Broners.

This would all make sense if Muhammad Ali hadn't became the most famous boxer on earth thru all the drama he created back in his day. All the guys around now are just doing the 2014 version of Muhammad's angle. Sh!t on the outside the ring bs all you want as its surely silly most of the time, but its what gets asses in seats. Like it or not more boxers are fighting for money more than legacy.

Ehhh, I don't know about this. Ali's fan base and public perception was greatly enhanced because of the Vietnam shit and the times of the country. He was also one of the greatest fighters of all time.
In terms of money and popularity, Tyson, Holyfield and DLH showed an alternate route. Tyson was a KO phenom, and at least in the public's eyes, Holyfield and DLH were good guys who fought hard and fought everyone. In fact, most popular fighters throughout history had a positive public image. I think that Ali is a poor example.
I'm just sick of all this drama.

Never been much of a fan of Ward's style, dislike the SOG BS, but there are clearly a few who have an over-the-top hardon for Ward on this site.
Several individuals complain about him not traveling. True, his furthest journey was to fight Froch in New Jersey, 3,000 miles from home but still in the US. Yet one of those same individuals once extolled Joe Calzaghe for being willing to "travel" from Wales to fight on "foreign soil" in England and Scotland, the equivalent of a moderate car-ride in Ward's native California. Joe finally fought in the US against a fighter we wrongly thought was past it (Hopkins) and one who clearly was shot (Jones) at the tale end of his illustrious career. It made sense for him to fight mostly at home because that's where he made his money and had local support. All those fighters from places like Argentina and Columbia and the like who regularly have to fight in the US or Germany or South Africa or Russia to make money would do the same if they could.
But now Ward, who is clearly not at the end of his career, is ready to fight in Denmark, and for some, it's all about how he waited so long and Kessler has one foot in the grave and how he's suddenly growing balls, as if a pendejo keyboard warrior has more balls than a professional fighter. Where is the topic asking whether Ward will get a fair shake in Denmark, the same way there is often one when a Eastern European fighter is boxing in the US?

I think Muhammad was Muhammad well before the Vietnam sh!t. He was making rhymes about when he would ktfo of guys. Thats hilariously disrespectful. And fans loved it or loved to hate it/him. He garnered some crossover appeal with his stance I'll concede, but he was always a character that brought drama.
Mike always had the in the ring scary as f#ck persona which I agree definitely served him well, but later on in his career he went hard on a bad guy persona to help sell fights.
Evander is Evander. He was fun to watch & was a warrior. He definitely made his money in the ring. Oscar took that SRL good guy role model route & while I'd argue its as contrived as the bad guy angle these other guys take its certainly less drama filled.
And this sh!t ain't for everyone. Hell I understand it & accept it more than you, but I can also see it for the silliness it brings to a serious ass sport with a long history.

i know you didn't just compare floyd selling 1-2mil ppv's at $80ea and record breaking
live gates to wlad's free tv ratings, as if the total viewership of floyd's fights was 1-2mil...
i also thought the froch kessler II fight was very close.
in a 12 round fight, winning 6 rounds only gets you a draw. the minimum you
need to win is to move one more round in your column, and that is how one of the
judges scored it. a 2nd judge had an additional round in the froch column.
kessler wasn't "shot" at all. that was a good fight from both of them and kessler
won many rounds clearly and blasted froch many times. that is the kind of "shot"
that 99.999% of pros wish they could be on their best day. if ward takes this
one in denmark, then he would definitely take a fight with froch in wembley next.
this one isn't a guaranteed win for ward. ward should beat kessler but it wouldn't
be the biggest upset ever if kessler came in super motivated and outpointed ward
after ward finally had points taken away for holding and butting.

It would be a big surprise if Kessler could outpoint Ward. The only way Kessler could win is if he scores a KO. I can't believe that a fight fan would say that Kessler could win 7 rounds against Ward ... in one fight.
Although I thought the 2nd Kessler/Froch fight was very close, and not the clear victory that Froch and fans would have you believe, I'd be surprised if Ward didm;t KO Kessler. I think the reason why Kessler lost to Froch was because his legs looked shaky, very shaky. Even though he has less power, Ward will be able to deliver the one-sided beating that make shaky legs break.

yes, but not in oakland:D
I think kessler is way past his prime. ward would beat him on any turf. against froch it would be tougher with a neutral ref that doesn't allow ward to grab and headbutt but still ward is too good for froch. ward is just the best SMW in the world currently.
