I think Ustinov was right. He saw fear in Fury.
His wife had a miscarriage, man. There are some things more important than boxing...
This. I think less people woulda paid attention if it was a journeyman is the only difference.

There are things more important than boxing, but if Fury thought he could have beaten his opponent in 5-10 minutes and made some money he would have.

People are different. It's silly to assume everyone would react the same to such a f#cked up thing happening to them & just be business as usual or business cuz its an easy payday.

Exactly. If nothing else one can look at the culture Fury was born into/is a part of. They are VERY family oriented.
I have friends who have had miscarriages. They have all taken time off work, work much less strenuous and "public eye" than professional boxing.

Apparently the miscarriage happened before his uncle's trouble, and there was no indication from Fury he would postpone anything because of it. Maybe his uncle's trouble just added to it, but using the miscarriage for an excuse not to fight now seems weak, as unfortunate as it is.
You are right Tony, Ustinov was the reason.

A miscarriage is not a "weak" excuse for anything. Throw in his uncle and you have a fighter who is not mentally ready for anything. We all handle things differently. I know I couldn't have fought if I'd just lost a baby.

Tyson = Too much talk, not enough fights.
Over rated with a sloppy boxing style but just good enough
to win a world title in regards to how still very young he is.

I'm trying not to be insensitive, but the way things happened, it is hard to feel sorry for Tyson Fury. A miscarriage is a very valid excuse for postponing a fight, and is a very hard thing to deal with, especially for the mother. Tyson Fury should have stopped everything when that happened, also knowing his uncle was scheduled for surgery, which always can be dangerous.
What he did instead, was go right on ahead with scheduling another opponent, joking and insulting the whole entire way about shit house pussy Chisora and how he will deal with the big lummox Ustinov...through the weigh in.....despite his wife's miscarriage. It was after he saw Ustinov's unexpected physical condition, he commented he thought he was being "stitched up" because someone also told him Ustinov had actually been training to fight him. One phone call later after the weigh in, 24hrs before the fight, he cancelled.
The miscarriage was not the reason he called the fight, and he already knew about his uncle having surgery. The only one I feel sorry for is his wife for being married to him. I could imagine how she felt with him not cancelling due to the miscarriage, but doing so when his uncle had a blood clot. Fury's mouth has put his name in the news, but also at the bottom of the barrel as far as being respected.

Most people have to, or had to work 40-50 hour work weeks or longer with all sorts of tragedy. Fury's training was done. He was @ a great weight. He had, at the most, 1 more hour of work to do. That's why I don't buy this. Ustinov is huge, and with a very good record. I think it was Ustinov's size and record. Like I said, he would have stepped in the ring with a much weaker opponent.

Yes, and most people get time off from work for personal tragedy too.
There are things much more important than boxing. I have nothing but sympathy for Tyson and his family. Losing a baby must be a terrible tragedy, a pain that I can't even comprehend since I've never been through it.
Hopefully after dealing with Chisora in November, Fury and Ustinov can meet. It would be a good scrap.

his excuses would carry much more weight, had he not been spewing conspiracy theories. he whined that wlad, vitali, haye, and chisora, sicked ustinov on him, to be rid of him. if he wasn't suddenly terrified of ustinov, why would he cry like a little girl about bs?

Why fight Ustinov? Isn't Fury-Chisora a final eliminator for one of the abc's belt?

A title defense then. I don't think Fury is afraid of any other heavyweight all things considered. I'm sure he had his doubts he could beat Ustinov with his mind clearly elsewhere.
We'll see.

You're right. I haven't. Boxing is of course a business, but the business is entertainment. Boxing use to do a much better job of giving us fan friendly fights.

99% of the blame belongs to the promoters and management. Most fighters do not have the pull to
make fights.Fury's management is doing the right thing for them and his future.
Fight Chisora and have a real fight with Klitschko that will entertain millions.

I agree, I understand that fighters don't want to take financial risks. But I don't have to like it. I'm in my 50s and remember Ali vs Frazier in 1974 was a non-title fight. Lyle-Shavers, Foreman-Lyle, Quarry-Lyle, Quarry-Shavers, and others like that were all non title fights. I think most fight fans would like to see Fury-Wilder, Wilder-Browne, Pulev-Wilder, etc. But Fury-Chisora 2 is certainly a legitimate fight if it ever happens.

We are probably close in age.I remember all of those too.Big differeance between then and now.
We now have more alphabet groups.Meaning more chances to fight or hold a title so there is not the
need to face the elite of the division.
I think it sucks but it is what it is.

If you believe the garbage that comes out of Fury's mouth, no, he isn't afraid of anyone.
According to him 99.9% of the heavyweights today are shithouse pussies.
Fury said during the press conference he was being set up, but would not rip the fans off by backing out of the fight since they paid good money for the tickets.
He said no way in hell would he fight Chisora ever again.
He also said he would fight Ustinov even if he was blind, and absolutely nothing would stop him from walking away from this fight. (His wife already had a miscarriage, and his uncle was in the hospital when he said that)
He said
that was how much of a man he is. Now we know.
Big fighter, big mouth, average skills.

Honestly I was surprised at why they had a rematch? I am thinking Fury wanted a tune up or something. Freaking waste of time if you ask me. Fury needs to man up and live up to his words of wanting to take on the toughest guys. So far, he is a freaking joke. Fight Ustinov you shithouse PUSSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
