Marciano
benn was very good (maybe a little excitable) - I think the best finishers stay cool when the moment comes and end the fight in a chillingly destructive manner

Almost forgot Monzon.....I don't think he really ever wanted to knock anyone out, he just wanted to torture his opponent for the full extent of the fight.

On a lower level, Ensley Bingham was a very good finisher, if he hurt a fellow he'd drop or KO his man within seconds - a very precise hitter Bingham was, not just brute force.

Good call
He was a marvellous finisher in his prime, he had the instincts of a shark (without the biting). He knew when he had his man nearly there and would just up the power and place his shots. He was injuries about it and his super featherweight defence against Fransico Thomas Da Cruz was the first time I saw him; I was amazed by his skill and craft - he was utterly unafraid and for every movement Da Cruz made he had 2 or 3 punching options open to him.

Some good picks here. Only Hatton stands out; I see him as a grinder rather than a finisher.

Hi Tom
At British title level and under Hatton was a fantastic finisher and could do it with either hand; it wasn't just the power, it was the placing and the surprise and angle of attack. When he moved up in the rankings he did get the results through grinding pressure and work rate.

Hiya
Watching Hatton early on I thought the same. He could only do it to overmatched opponents though. He smothered his own work when he was in live.

I'm thinking Ali's 15th round TKOs over Bonavena and Wepner as good arguments for his staus as a good finisher.

Especially when you take into account that Ali was the only fighter ever to stop Bonavena in the whole of Bonavena's 68 fight professional career. A more recent fighter I would like throw into the mix Tito Trinidad?
