Porter was a better scalp than Maidana.
How is that even a discussion when a few fights ago porter's name wasn't even in the top conversation as he was engaging in a draw with diaz. Maidana has been in MUCH bigger fights with MUCH bigger names. Porter beat alexander and paulie. Neither one of those guys are top contenders.

Actually, last night he looked less relentless and more easily fatigued than he was in his prime.
Interestingly, Porter dominated Alexander and Alexander defeated Maidana.
They are similar, but Porter is in his prime, while Maidana is a bit faded and shopworn.
Its funny how you say maidana was dominated by alexander, but did you actually watch the fight? Because if you did, what you will find is that alexander held maidana FAR more than what Floyd did. Still feel the same way?

And who has Maidana beat at the top level at WW? He gets way too much credit for beating Broner, an overblown LWW. Also, Porter comfortably beat a guy who beat Maidana comfortably in both their first fights at the weight, add to that being beaten by Khan and Kotelnik at LWW and he simply doesn't have a good record against top guys in any weight let alone WW.

No! You're right, I change my mind. I'll just completely ignore the fact that Devon won almost every round of the fight at a canter.

If you notice, you weren't quoted in that post. Which would mean that my comment wasn't directed at you.

Porter hasn't fought anyone. Alexander is a fringe contender at best. Who has be beaten? Why should porter get any credit for that? paulie is finished. And for what its worth lets not forget, wait for it..... BRONER JUMPED 2 CLASSES TO BEAT PAULIE. Who is the same "blown up lww that maidana beat. Do you see the circle we're going in here?

In maidana's first fight at 147. For anyone who truly pays attention its simple to see that he is much better as a boxer than he was then.

And Randall Bailey who sparked Mike Jones. And Lucas Mattyhsse (SP?), also he beat Andriy Kotelnik who in turn also beat Maidana.
It was also Alexander's first fight at WW.

Randall bailey also lost to ishe smith. What more needs to be said about that. So we're looking at lucas and kotelnik. 2 decent wins. that doesn't mean a whole lot. All im saying is maidana has been around a lot longer and been in the ring with more quality fighters than porter. And for the record marcos fought his way up the ranks and no one can say he didn't deserve this opportunity.
I will say this and being an amateur boxer I see things differently than others so everyone is entitled to their opinion. Until shawn porter learns how to better judge distance, he will never be a top contender. He struggles mightily to win a decision because its too hard for him to score and land cleanly in the eyes of the judges because he's always rushing in and smothering himself. Him scoring a draw with diaz was not a coincidence. The fact that he lost to kell just highlights that.

What wins does Maidana have that are better than Porter's win against Alexander?

Hernandez was past his prime, and had already been beaten by Oscar. It was the last fight of the faded veteran.
Porter is an aggressive young fighter and was undefeated.

Almost true...
Only a very few like James Butler were worse slimebags than Floyd.
I rest my case, or in this case, yours.

In my opinion, Maidana is in his prime now. Baby Face is right - Maidana is a much different fighter now than then. When he fought Alexander he was ready to quit, and had no motivation. Not to take away from Alexander's win, but it is what it is. Maidana had to drain some to get to 140 too, so that also was a factor. I think Maidana is a tough fight for most welters right now. I think Khan would retire before re-matching Maidana again, and I would also favor Maidana if he fought Alexander again too.

Then make the fight and watch your boy get put to sleep.

My point is... it's still early for Kell. You are making observations of each at different points in their career. And as much as I despise Floyd, it's not fair.
