Lol, but an accurate assessment.

You might be a f#cking idiot if you think Emanuel "Human Shield" Clottey will present a bigger challenge than James "Go for Broke" Kirkland for Mr Alvarez *said in Jeff Foxworthy voice*

I feel Clottey poses the same level of threat as Kirkland. But then, Kirkland is definitely the more intriguing fight.

Couldn't disagree more. You gotta throw some punches to beat Saul & Emmanuel will barely be doing that.

10 KO's in 38 fights indeed, doesn't indicate power. But did his size (187cm) beat Kirkland? I think he's overrated, and Rosado is going to beat him up.

His size didn't hurt him any, Rosado is going to get demolished.

I wouldn't be so sure. Rosado does have a good chance to lose due to a cut, but he will not be KO'ed.

Edit: saying the above, I forgot that they are fighting at 156. If Rosado will have a hard time making that weight, he can be KO'ed.

Kind of bullshit imo. Canelo apparently realized he is in a fight that might jeopardize his big clash with Cotto. Ankle injury my ass. Like he doesn't have time to recover before the fight? Did he sprain his ankle while boxing? Running? Whatever....

Perhaps this should be its own thread, but hypothetically....

Let's say Canelo fought Clottey and Clottey gave an inspired performance and Canelo was a little flat and Clottey scored the upset, let's say by split decision. What would be your level of interest in a Canelo/Cotto fight? For me, the fight might lose a little hype, but would it somehow become a worse fight? It should still be a good match up of skilled fighters with pop. I just wonder, should managers, promoters, TV guys, etc...worry as much about records as they do? I think fight fans like fights between good fighters, period. But, perhaps non-fight fans are where the money is, and they like shiny records.

Judges would never give a decision to Clottey. Canelo could look bad and get a gift decision creating noise in boxing community, but his record wouldn't suffer.

I'll grant you, it takes some imagination, but you haven't really answered the question. IF he lost, would you lose all interest in a Canelo/Cotto match up? I am curious how fight fans would answer this question....

I already lost some interest after Canelo looked very one-dimensional in the Lara fight, and I don't have a very high opinion of Cotto, so this is one of many interesting fights for me, but nothing special. I am not buying that PPV.

Apparently it is not a new "injury". The same one that bothered him for the Angulo and Lara fights. I would guess it wouldn't take that long to heal though. Anyway, according to Clottey, they both agreed to fight and both signed contracts. Canelo may regret that unless he decides to fight him in January instead ahead of the Cotto fight....if that gets made.

Thought Canelo was a lock to fight 4 times this year.

All of this is pure bullshit. Because 50%-75% of boxing fans nowadays are of the casual type, fighters are so scared to lose before a big fight. Unless he got totally dominated, which wouldn't happen, I'd still watch every second of Cotto/Alvarez.

The funny thing is that Canelo is acting like he's put in work. He's only started to face stiff competition in April 2013. In those fights, he could very well be 1-3 instead of 3-1. This is what turns me off from the guy. He is a media sensation because of how he looks and its relation to Mexico's past domination.

Sick of these manufactured stars. Real fighters are unknown (to the general public) until they prove themselves.
