This is a rediculous thread, quite obviously created by someone that does NOT watch much boxing.
Danny Green made his name from Anthony Mundine. He got all his fans because of Mundine. He got smoked by Mundine after getting this fan base. Danny Green was a "Class B" fighter on the world stage. He NEVER fought the best fighters in ANY division. He WAS a very smart business man though. Had it not been for Mundine coming to boxing, Green would have been just a 6cm x 3cm article in the paper.
The end. Please, whoever created this thread, go educate yourself!

Whether you like to accept it or not Green fought in some of the biggest fights in Australian boxing history. Green vs Mundine and Green vs Jones to name two.
Nobody is ever going to take your opinion seriously anyway :
"Good to see there are a lot of pathetic haters on here. It must be hard living such miserable lives. TEAM MUNDINE all day!"
Just another Mundine nuthugger

Nothing he said was wrong, Green did very well for himself but without the Mundine rivalry he wouldn't have been able to do any of his biggest fights or cherry pick a LHW title. There were better fighters around their time from Australia than Green and one being Katsidis was IMO more exciting to watch and arguably a better fighter, he fought better fighters than Green but who in Australia knows him? If you don't think that is a direct result of the rivalry with Mundine when he became Australia's 'good guy' then you're blind.

Both milked their roles in promoting themselves.
Mundine took on the persona of a "heel", playing up a villainous "bad guy" or antagonist role.
Green marketed himself as Mundine's polar opposite, becoming a "face", acting as a heroic or "good guy" character.
No doubt both had watched how the "heels" and "faces" in the "wrassling" game promoted their characters, and both thought, what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

No,no Like a Boss is right anyone who doesn't think Green is the best fighter since Kostya is pathetic a hater or a Mundine nuthugger. Including Robbie Peden.

Green is a B-level fighter who will be remembered for losing to Mundine, being involved in the worlds most boring title fight(Drews)beating the shell of RJJ and being in the worlds most blatant fixed fight(Briggs)where he cowered to criminals the next day after he said Briggs dogged it. Sorry Like a Boss Danny Green is the best Aussie boxer since KT. Happy now? All hail Danny Green.

Good summary. What people seem to conveniently forget is BOTH were engaged in big fights. It wasn't just the Mundine v Green fight that was huge. Green v Jones was a monster fight.

DD You conveniently changed the topic from TS original statement''Danny Green the best thing in Aussie boxing since Kostya''. Regardless of how big or how much money those fights made he is far from the best thing in Ausie boxing since KT. In fact he is close to the worst I don't like either Mundine or Green but if you ever leave the confines of the Aussie forum and ask what is Danny Green best known for? you will get 2 responses. 1. Green-Briggs. 2.His ridiculous catchweight stipulations(known in other forums and in general as''Dannyweight'').
So whilst he has made a ton of money and kept his looks and health he has harmed Australias reputation globally. Do you guys read other forums or the General World forums?

Green vs RJJ - boxing fans watched it to see RJJ, not Green. Mundine vs Green -p eople watched this fight because Mundine was in it, not to watch Green. Green vs Briggs - there should have been charges laid against Green Machine Promotions for false advertising IMO... Enough said. I cannot believe for 1 second that someone would have the audacity to label Danny Green "the best thing since KT". That's pretty much spitting on Mundine, Katsidis, Geale, Fletcher, Horn, Leapei, Bika, Tomlinson, Zappavigna etc. The list could go on and on!

The topic is re Danny being the best "thing" in Aussie boxing, not the best fighter.
No one will argue there were more talented fighters than Green but he did massive things for boxing in this country whilst becoming very wealthy doing it. He would have been a name with or without Mundine because of the way he carried himself and his appeal to the mainstream, not just boxing purist.
Look at what he did after the choc fight - Jones, Tarver, Wlodarczyk. He brought world class fighters to our shores and put on great shows.
Yep, the Briggs fight should never had happend but there are dozens of these fights every year (Choc v Ellis ?).
Green deserves credit but some will never give it, whether it be jealousy or ignorance who knows.

Delusional post. the guy can't stop mentioning Mundine. After losing to the weakest titlist(Beyer)he would of went nowhere without the money he made from Mundine. Why do you think he can't stop mentioning his name? Jealousy get out of here ODLH is one of the richest, respected boxers out there(besides a silly incident on drugs and wearing fishnets). Green is a cherrypicking fraud who fights fighters who are vulnerable(Wlod suicide attempt on anti depressants) Tarver old inactive lost 2 of his last 3 fights in the previous 3 years. And he lost to them

Why do you think instead of trying to avenge those losses he is chasing a guy who campaigns in a division 40lb lighter than him?
He would of been a name with or without Mundine. sheesh

nowhere near what he is because of Mundine. I don't like Mundine either but Green should have a little statue of Mundine beside his bed and blow it a little kiss and thank it for all the money he has in the bank.

It took 6 years of bagging Mundine for Danny Green to make a "name" for himself! Beyer x 2, Eric Lucas x1. Two world title fights, 1 world title eliminator. Can you remember the advertising Green got in the build-up for these fights?... A few maybe 5cm x 10cm write ups in the paper. Then a few little news clips after the win/losses. Why? Because he wasn't fighting Mundine or Jones, and he didn't have the money - before the Mundine fight anyway - to promote bullshit catch-weight (or in the Briggs fight - corrupt) fights for his know all, know f-all fans. Danny Greens 3 biggest "legacies" will be 1. Mundine vs Green, 2. Green vs Briggs; and 3. Bringing a whole ill-educated "boxing" fans to this great sport, who come on to forums with garbage like "is Danny Green the best thing since KT?!"

And it's funny that you would say Zappavigna and Tomlinson aren't better then Green. Neither has been a pro for 10 years, yet they have more experience in the USA and against decent opponents than Green.

Have to disagree with you there Greens win over Lucas(who should have still been WBC SMW champion) trumps anything Will and Lenny have done so far.

So all your bagging of green and that he was nothing without Mundine and he wasnt any good for Aussie boxing etc was post Mundine !! Because danny did nothing before hand did he. His fights with Sullivan, beyer, Delisle just dont register with you ?? And you say I have no idea.
