I'm not for one telling people what to do, but I believe people who are advising spending time with your family on this site aren't dissing you, or trying to take away from your accomplishments. They just don't want you to go on too far and get hurt. Boxing is all too full of people who haven't known when to retire. You've retired twice now, you obviously at some point have thought it was the correct timing. People aren't saying something that you haven't already been considering yourself.

It is, of course, your decision. But there's no shame in retiring and putting your family first.

If you still want to do it then do it! You're 34 but only had 29 fights so I'd say why not carry on.

I just had a look at your record and there's not too many 12 round wars on there, so I don't see why you should suddenly quit anyway. But I think as it came from your own mouth previously, people have bought into the idea that you should now retire. Your losses include Frankie Gavin (split decision), Derry Matthews and Willie Limond who are all very decent operators so it's hardly like you've disgraced yourself.

If you were getting pinged around the ring and taking beatings then it would be obvious, but you haven't so I don't see why someone who loves boxing shouldn't stay doing what they love, if that is truly what you feel.

Well said cobra, that's pretty much how I feel, I think a fresh approach will bring more improvement

I know people close to him and fans in general worry for him and that's fine, but by the sounds of it he was wrote off from a youngster and look what's happened ! As Curtis said he knows himself best and he followed his dreams, now his back for some more and I can't wait to see him do well !!

For me you still have something to offer, your record isn't filtered with wars although you have had a good few tear ups not any kind of fight where I would say you are at risk, you will know how your training camps go and what like in sparring and most fighters retire due to injuries throighout the camps, you always seem to be in good condition and for a fighter who weighed in on the welter limit then got himself down to lightweight shows that the dedication is there! For me I'd like to see you fight At english level again, maybe a singleton rematch, then Coyle may be an option also, stay away from the likes of saunders and nurse, think nurse skills are insane and he's awkward as hell, gonna take a high level amateur to crack the code for me and saunders hits like a mule, good luck and stay close to Dave coldwell, it's a rarety in boxing to find such a good friend

It's a really romantic thing to write Curtis. But some people's opinions actually do count for something.

Such as a ex-fighter, who is a promoter and corner man whom knows you better than yourself and tells you it's a bad move and he's not wanting part of it.

Boxing is not football - and you have a lovely little family and all your health at the minute. I thought you didn't look yourself against Limond personally. Lacked ideas and the spark was missing, which you normally have in abundance. A couple of fights prior and you had a heavy KO defeat to Derry.

Curtis...enjoy the ride but I would not like to see you as just 'an opponent'. not being disrespectful to the journeyman fraternity but everytime i see you in the ring curtis i want you to think you can win and then i want to see you do your best to do so.

So if you do not want to go over old ground, what direction can you go in our of interest? Staying at the weight? If you could make 3 realistic fights, who would you want? I bet you fancy another crack at Gavin.

He was the British champion three months ago. He's still got a lot to offer.

I agree it's not football and there is a danger element to the sport, but I think Curtis will know when the time has come.

She went mad, said she would leave if I fought again, she's calmed down now, she went and bought me some chicken breasts and some brown whole meal bread yesterday, that's her way of saying good luck! Mums wife's and girlfriends just don't want to see you get hurt I suppose, I respect that but i don't tell them how to live there lives, they shouldn't tell me how to live mine, kids are a bit worried but I've told them it's daddy's job, they will be fine, they will understand a bit more when they get older

it could simply be Curtis never turned up on the night against Willie, not in anyway taking anything away from Willies performance which was as good from him as I've seen
