...stupid, but I still had a good laugh... will that make me buy a ticket? definitely not...
Agreed Mr Geto, but Wlad would beat any of the American Heavyweights, he doesn't necessarily need to go to these measures. It would be easy enough to get an undefeated American contender and bill him against Wlad as "the great American hope". It wouldn't exactly be difficult to sell the concept of the next American heavyweight Champ.armageto wrote:He gets an easy American HW opponent to fight in his return to fighting in the states. Briggs has a name, and if they build up enough fake animosity, the causal fan would draw interest. A lot of easy coverage for HBO to have a few 24/7's or the road to series. If Wlad wants to fight again in the states, he needs an American opponent to help him sell tickets to the event, and to get it on a premium network channel.
Agreed, and I just read this. Plus I think Briggs trains at the same boxing gym. Isn't it Fifth Street?lefty wrote:Well Briggs knows what gym Wladimir trains out of so it wouldnt exactly be hard for instance to wait for him to come out of the gym and follow him to the ocean and hire a boat and follow him to where he is.
Agreed. Wlad could have the fight in the US and stop Stiverne wouldn't go the 12 rounds, plus Wlad would be picking up the WBC Title as well. He'd become the first Heavyweight Champion in history to hold all four titles at the same time.lefty wrote:I'm pretty sure that whilst he's not american, Stiverne would suffice.
Ha, Briggs is such a clown. I bet partying with him would be a blast though.cletomex wrote:http://instagram.com/p/t6OK4uDFr9/
I do agree that Wilder would sell a fight. However, Wilder would have to want to fight Wlad. I don't see Wilder taking that on anytime soon. Maybe near the end of Wlad's run, we'll hear Wilder want a match. For Wlad, not that he would avoid the fight, but Wilder does have a shot to win if he lands. It would make for a very tentative fight on both sides, where U.S. fans would bash him for another boring fight. Briggs on the other hand is a walking punching bag. Wlad avoids Brigg's 4 KO punches a round, then lights his ass up. Again from the non boxing or really casual fan, they know Briggs. He's been in the sport for years and fought some huge names. Briggs has had small roles in movies, tv shows, and videos. People know who he is by face, if not by name, at least they know he boxes. Wilder, unless you are an actual boxing fan, you have zero clue who he is.Crease wrote:Agreed Mr Geto, but Wlad would beat any of the American Heavyweights, he doesn't necessarily need to go to these measures. Maybe he's getting a kick out of the wrestling type schtick. He's been the best for a long time, is married to a hot young actress and has loads of money. Maybe he's bored.ScottDetonator wrote:I understand many think this is staged but what exactly is Wladimir gaining from it other than making himself look stupid?

I find it hard to believe he can get bored having a hot young actress

Well whats he supposed to say "yea we are staging this to make a HW title fight, maybe in the US, vs me a guy who ain't sh!t these days"? This is some sh!t that won't be admitted to til Shannon or Wlad writes their post boxing book.lefty wrote:Possible answers to how Briggs knows where Wlad is all the time and also in regards to it being a set up between them http://www.BS.com/briggs-getti ... hko--83089
I see your point but in regards to him knowing where Wlad is all the time it also makes sense.ReggieDiggs wrote:Well whats he supposed to say "yea we are staging this to make a HW title fight, maybe in the US, vs me a guy who ain't sh!t these days"? They should fight for free on Friday and broadcast the press conference on pay-per-view on Saturday.HomicideHenry wrote:I'm having flashbacks to Rod Serling's character Mountain Rivera...
Either Briggs is completely desperate for money... or he's a complete nut case...
Have him fight Tyson Fury first... at least we'd all get a million dollar gate out of it, on poo talk alone.
