I agree completely.

Whilst I see Joshua as a true genuine talent & future star he needs to be built up slowly. So sick of a guy having some success & everyone wants to rush him into risky fights immediately.

Personally i'm sick of watching boxing and watching mismatches. The equivalent in football for instance would manchester city being allowed to play Accrington stanley every week until the end of the season when they eventually play a top team. Also regarding risky fights and so on - isnt it risky for the guys who are completely outmatched and outgunned or does the the risk to them not matter as much?

Also i am sick of hearn bigging up an opponent saying he went 8 rounds with so and so, took so and so to a decision, you can see hearn bigging that fight up now.....the guy who went 12 rounds with klit, fury and chisora conviniently forgetting to mention he lost all 36 rounds! A-force is a 90/10 fight making it completely pointless fight, really has R1 ko written all over it and if that don't happen he will get criticized. Nothing to gain from that fight. I am only intrested in competitive fight for joshua where his opponent has a chance of winning. Hearn said he will win a title in 2016. Any of the opponents mentioned would be a great starting block to that goal
What about Wach then? I'd definietly favour Joshua to win but I think it would be dangerous if he wasnt fully alert.
Not a bad opponent....but would prefer someone of his level that is relevant to the uk market like price or browne. Both similar levels to wach but much bigger fights.

Murata started boxing when he was 11 years old mate (first year of junior high i.e year 7) and had an amateur record of 119–18.

I'm also sick of mismatches mate but Joshua has to make it out of the first league and championship before he can play in the premier league. :TU:

Yeh I was thinking about Wach earlier,he's been out for a while now but he's getting some rounds Friday night?

maybe Boytsov future test once he shakes off that defeat.
Gerber?
Dimitrenko?
what about 56 year old Hassan Chitsaz (26W/26KO/1L) :)

Maybe feeding him different styles is the way to do it but Eddies making out like hes gonna push him towards a world title in 12/18 months time so what is it that they want to do?Being realistic and Im still not 100% convinced with Joshua yet but you've got to be looking at the Povetkin's/Jennings/Glazkovs ranked fighters if moving towards a world title quickly is what they want to do.

Those are all valid points mate I agree. Dont get me wrong, i dont expect Joshua to be going in with the top dogs right now, I mean aside from Wlad. Guys like Price, Fury and so on. He does need to move his way up before that. However I do think the competition could be upped somewhat though. Atleast to guys who are gonna likely go the full distance or into the later rounds. Like a Guinn or a Johnson or someone like that. Ps i'm determined to find someone who started boxing late and fought good competiton early on just to be a pain in the ass ;) haha.

He's top 30 in the world with a good chin and defence. He would be a tough opponent for Joshua.

He's not a tough opponent for joshua, he's loses every round just like he does everytime he faces a top opponent

He won rounds against Charr and Hammer (I thought he deserved the decision against Hammer).

If Joshua could beat Johnson as clearly as Fury & Chisora did then that is an impressive win. It would possibly put Joshua in the world's top 15.

black panther wrote:Yes rio you are correct in that sense but:

1. The middleweight division is a lot deeper than the heavyweight division
2. You've ignored my point about Degale having started boxing at a much younger age and having far more amateur bouts.

Joshua only had around 34 contests; Degale had 95.

I’m not trying to have a go mate but rather trying to make you understand the difference between starting boxing at 10 years old compared to 18 years old.
It takes years to master the finer nuances of boxing; many never do. Degale at the same stage in his career was far more developed than Joshua in terms of technique, punch repertoire, defensive manoeuvres etc. Also, regardless of the stats/records on paper, each boxer is an individual and need to be treated as such. You need to assess where they are in terms of conditioning, technique, mentality, tactical nous etc. and develop accordingly.

Hope this helps expand my point.

This doesn't mean anything , the both Olympic gold medalists so there on the same level regardless of bouts boxed, idiot

If Eddie Hearn is looking to push Joshua towards a world title within 12-18 months I would probably go in this order of this type of opponents after sprott

Charr (maybe take Joshua a few rounds maybe test his chin, stamina)
Dimitrenko (has height and reach similar to wladimir)
Takam ( guy has a good ranking but his beatable as he is not the tallest boxer)
stiverne/povetkin (any of these two would be a good final fight before a world title shot)

I personally think the price fight should wait as price still needs to find his way again after those two defeats to Thompson and that Joshua needs more rounds, I do think Eddie is getting carried away as joshua is still only mid-20s and heavyweights don't hit there prime till there 30s now it seems and it would be stupid to put him in with some of the top 10 guys yet but Eddie from the sounds of it would be willing to do that but I'd prefer Joshua to capture the British title first and then go from there maybe he could fight the loser of fury vs chisora as his first defence. As I'm pretty sure he won't be fighting the winner for the belt as I reckon it will be vacated.

Calling me an idiot completely validates your point Sir well done. I guess that means every single boxer who won an Olympic Gold Medal is on the same level as Muhammed Ali and Ray Leonard. That's fantastic news.

Can’t wait until Degale cleans out the super middleweight division and wins world titles in 5 divisions, hurts his eye, retires, then comes back to beat an unbeaten Golovkin.
Also really looking forward to the day Joshua becomes the greatest heavyweight of all time, transcends the sport and starts reciting poetry at press conferences.
And when Audley Harrison throws his medal in the river, becomes a member of the nation of Islam and beats the crap out George Foreman, oh how I shall rejoice.
Still waiting on ‘ole Muhhamed Abudalev to do the business though.

I mean they’re all Olympic gold medallists after all; gotta be on the same level.

Cheers,

BP
