A fighter the caliber of Leonard doesn't lose to Salido. Ever.
I disagree. Any fighter can lose early in their career if they are matched up too hard.
So, are we talking that he has the potential of being the caliber of Leonard then? Because as of now, he is not. But yes, it is still early in his career. Therefore, the statement sticks.

I am not agreeing that Lomachenko can or can not ever reach Sugar Ray Leonard's level but that basing it on an early loss is not logical because Leonard did not face as stiff a test early in his career as Lomachenko has.

Lomachenko fought a world champion in his 8th pro fight if you count the AIBA World Series of Boxing bouts as pro fights. Leonard fought for his first world title fight in his 26th fight. You can't compare the two. If Ray had fought for a world title in his 8th pro fight I think he would have stood a good chance of losing.

I see what you're saying. We are looking at it in different aspects. I assumed the poster was gauging Lomanchenko at the caliber of a prime Leonard. I agree with your assessment.

I don't think Ray Leonard fought that level of fighter as Salido that early in his career.
