Wake me up when Khan becomes a force at 147 for the top guys to duck.

edit: I understand some people, particularly Khan fans, might think Khan has a style to trouble Floyd. But it's an absurd leap to think Floyd ducked the guy when he had no legitimate claim to being considered in the first place. If Khan has the goods, why can't he produce it in the ring...
Not only that, why is it that Khan all of a sudden warrants being in the conversation for the Mayweather Lottery when he hasn't even gotten past the likes of Danny Garcia?

Mayweather's team introduced Khan into conversations themselves. Didn't they do Khan vs Maidana poll ? Nobody else was even discussed.

I believe it was Khan who started throwing Floyd's name out there, why would Mayweather talk about Khan (it isn't like he need him)?

Yes, Khan was on that Poll but he wasn't really being considered because he had done absolutely nothing to warrant the fight.

Devon Alexander has accused Floyd Mayweather Jr. of ducking black fighters.

Lamont Peterson - Has been KO'd in three rounds against Lucas Matthysse… and also "temporarily" failed a drug test
Adrien Broner - Fight probably would have never happened as they’re “bros”, coupled with the fact that he dropped a wide decision to Marcos Maidana
Jermell Charlo - Merely a prospect
Jermall Charlo - Merely a prospect
Erislandy Lara - Not a great resume and has only won four of his last eight bouts, so a fight against him would be difficult to sell
Ishe Smith - Recently lost by decision to Carlos Molina
Cornelius Bundrage - Recently lost by decision to Ishe Smith
Demetrius Andrade - Only recently arrived onto the 154lb scene as a top-tier fighter, but has a limited resume & a small fan-base
Austin Trout - Not a stylistically enjoyable fighter to watch and has suffered recent losses to Canelo Alvarez & Erislandy Lara
Shawn Porter - Has only recently arrived onto the world stage and lost his most recent bout against Kell Brook
Devon Alexander - Has a recent loss on his record against Shawn Porter
Kell Brook - Has only recently won a world title and had previously either declined or withdrawn from title bouts against Cornelius Bundrage, Manny Pacquiao and Devon Alexander
Timothy Bradley - Is contractually tied to Top Rank & HBO, so he'll never be granted an opportunity to face Mayweather… and Bradley knew this when he signed Bob Arum's contract extension
Keith Thurman - A talented fighter, but has limited drawing power, isn't a "real" world champion and his resume isn't good enough to be considered a viable opponent for the man sitting on the pound-for-pound throne

Half of that list is just as viable or more viable than Ortiz.
What do you mean? :?? :-? :o

At the time he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr., Victor Ortiz was ranked number two by Ring Magazine at welterweight; was only 24 years old (a young lion); had beaten Andre Berto in his previous bout; and held the WBC 147lb title. His resume (as of the 17th September, 2011) was very good!
He only beat Andre Berto...and where Berto is now should tell you how good he was. So if Ortiz was #2 based off of Ortiz over guys like Manny, Bradley ect. then that tells you how biased the Ring is.

Meaning that:
- Ring Magazine sucks
- Andre Berto sucks
- WBC sucks
- Resume based conclusions suck
People were moderately excited about this tune-up fight when it took place, because Floyd had faced a 16 month period of inactivity and facing an accomplished, physically-massive and a highly-rated hungry young lion. Hindsight cannot take away that fact!

He quit against Maidana before so basically one good win against Berto makes him a viable opponent but a REAL YOUNG LION KEITH THURMAN ISN'T?

Biased at its best

I keep going away from Boxrec and coming back to dumber threads about Floyd each time.

Maybe next time we can discuss how Floyd hasn't fought enough Swedish fighters.

That was somebody else's quote. I think Thurman is better than Maidana and Khan and should have been considered.

Here's the issue.... name ONE... black fighter in 147-154 who really is worth matching with Floyd?

Problem is, there is not ONE. This is a weight class that is dominated primarily by latinos and orientals.

Thurman (not sure if he is black, but he is in the original list), Lara, Andrade would be interesting.

So, if Mayweather fights Thurman or Brook, he'll get partial credit? Does he have to fight both to have a win over one black guy?

I'm sorry, I know that was lame. This thread is just so fvcking stupid it's contagious.

There has probably been a study, or at least half a study....on Mayweather's ducking of black fighters, or half black fighters. I suppose it is only half a duck if he ducks someone like Thurman though. If Floyd ducks someone like Khan, who is kind of brown skinned, it should only be considered like a 1/4 of a duck then?

What really throws me off is what if a 1/2 black guy beats a black guy, and Mayweather ducks him? 1/4 or 1/2 duck? Or say if a black guy beats a yellow guy? A yellow guy should only be a 1/8th duck, right? Are there yellow guys?

The guy that should be forced to explain it all to us is Devon Alexander - the guy that grunts when he throws punches to let judges know when he throws them..you know...the guy that looks half retarded.... the one that quit against Bradley.

When Floyd fights a Latino fighter, he attracts a wider audience. That explains it. Pure business.

God help us all if someone with some Tiger Woods type lineage ever gets involved in a Floyd ducking scenario, that could create a goddamn black hole, no pun intended.
