Groves should push for that third fight if he really wants it, It's clearly not needed but there's nothing wrong with wanting to avenge losses in my opinion. I very much doubt Froch will be around long enough for Groves to get himself back in a position to force a mandatory shot and Froch doesn't need the fight at all so it's unlikely to ever happen and most likely just posturing from Groves, but that's nothing new in boxing, is it?

I can't remember someone whining and whinging this much though or completely dismissing a boxer who's stopped him twice and would more than likely stop him again if Groves ever got his wish.

I'm sure there's many boxers who are still moaning about KO losses many years later that they never got to avenge, I imagine coverage and air time has a lot to do with the perceived amount of whining compared to others.

Paulie Malignaggi still whinges about his stoppage to Hatton even though he got his a$$ whooped good and proper.

GG is dining out on speculation - That he was 'winning' the fights
Carl is dining out on the facts - I stopped him twice well inside the distance
You don't win a fight on points until the last bell has rang and you're still stood there. I know who I would back in fight 3.

sticking strictly to Groves ever since he had his first fight with Froch he has become arrogant, as if he see's himself as this one of a kind world challenger or the man who should be the champion in his own mind and its effecting him, his style isn't as fluid as it was earlier in his career and he is becoming more aggressive in his style, as if he is looking to knock someone out instead of using his abilities to out class them.
I've just seen that he might have or has vacated the EBU title, if he has he has wasted an opportunity to re-build himself and his credibility as a world contender in competing against the best Europe has to offer, for what I can only guess is another attempt at a world title that he simply isn't prepared for.
simple message to Groves:
"sort your head out, stop looking for shortcuts and earn your world title the right way so no one can second guess you when you get there"

I think people are being a bit hard on Groves here.
After coming off a devasting knockout loss, rather than dissappear somewhere, he came back shortly afterwards and won the european title against a guy with a very tough chin. I don't think Groves is finished, he was probably very nervous, particularly when he realised he was going to have to go 12 rounds. That is understandable after what happened in the Froch fights.
Also, it is ok to call people out, it is the fight game and it is how you get fights.
Froch spent a long time calling out Kessler after losing to him. Incidentally,he has not spent much time calling out Andre Ward, who owned him, which is quite telling.

I admit it is harsh to judge groves as we may be doing, but its because everyone wants to see him become a world champion and fulfil his potential as someone who could dominate the division later in his career.
when he won the EBU title, he did fight a durable opponent but he wasn't world calibre just yet and Groves still had to go the distance after he claimed he was already at world level. his EBU title fight proved he is still developing and I just believe he needs to come back down to earth and put in the hard work to become what he can be instead of trying for world titles this early in his career against opponents who may be too strong for him and would ultimately damage his record.

You get two types of people; humble and can accept losses and shortcomings etc. The other type is arrogant and every shortcoming or failure they have is someone or something else's fault. Never their own. It's the way they cope in their mind with these shortcomings and failures and move on.
Groves is essentially trying to convince himself he is better than Froch and just got "unlucky". I have a friend who also blames all his shortcomings and failings on circumstances and other people. Never himself. I don't judge Groves too harshly for saying such things; it's merely a coping mechanism and maybe Groves' way of not losing his confidence. The facts are overall Froch is the better fighter. He's got a better chin, better stamina and probably punches a bit harder too. That combined with his ring nous developed from years of experience at the top level makes him a better fighter than Groves despite Groves advantages in speed of hand and foot. Groves' might lose his self confidence if he accepted these facts.
I personally thing it's a good thing to realise your shortcomings and work on them and around them. Froch probably realises he's not the fastest guy out there but uses his other attributes like physical strength, stamina, being a tough SOB and timing etc. when he's facing a faster guy like Dirrell. He probably would have lost to Dirrell if he's stayed on the outside and tried to outbox him so instead he took it to him and although it was messy, he essentially out toughed him.

A bit like Hatton against Mayweather oh and The Pac man as he really got over either of them defeats ?

Slightly different as he felt like he'd let a massive fan base down including 30,000 who traveled to Vegas.

Maybe, but he didn't get stopped twice by Mayweather and still state he'd beat him in the third.

Massively successful boxers have massively excessive EGO's comes with the territory unfortunately. I'm sure GG he will get over it, Hatton I'm not so sure?

Good post, although I think Dirrell beat him.

He was robbed of a possible MEGA UPSET victory in the first fight (by Foster not Froch).
Worked his arse off in the build up to the rematch and then played it safe (thinking he could outbox Froch) and ended up kayoed.
It's obviously hard for him to deal with. He will have a decent career but he's forever haunted by the one punch knock out by Froch.
I like Groves (& Froch) a lot. But George needs to think about - and build - a series with Degale. They could have 2 or 3 fights that will keep us entertained.

Ridiculous stick for Groves on this thread.
There's a massive difference between bleating on about Froch or simply answering questions about Froch, like he has been doing. If Froch hadn't bizarrely been ringside at Groves/Rebrasse slagging off every little thing GG did to the viewing public I'm sure it would have gone away by now - quite why Froch is still so insecure about the Groves saga is open to interpretation.
And as for the other point, how would you like him to answer the questions he's asked? "Oh yeah, Froch killed me - I'm never going back there."... get real. At the end of the day GG was more than competitive in both fights so why shouldn't he talk himself up whilst Froch is still so keen to talk him down at every opportunity? I doubt he truly believes there'll be a third fight, but it gets people talking & winds up his nemesis so why wouldn't he?
If I was Froch I'd stay as far away from Groves as I can in every walk of life as he only ever comes across as looking like a massive cock in their one on ones. Go back to being that warrior who beat Bute and Kessler. I have my fingers crossed for the Chavez Jr fight.

Groves thinks by not acknowledging defeat that froch actually won't register that he won

that's how deluded he is !!
Anyone who don't believe he was seriously hurt when he was rescued first time round is on drugs!!!
People saw what a single cobra sting could do to groves when he wasn't buzzed, so imagine what he'd been left like had foster not jumped in & secured him another payday!!

I said before the 2nd fight that Groves needed to jump straight on Froch & try to knock him out early. I got ridiculed by a few on here saying it was stupid tactics, but for me the 1st fight proved that the longer the fight went on, the more likely Froch was to stop him.
Controversial 1st stoppage or not, the 1st fight was only going to end with a Froch victory. Can't believe anyone actually thought Groves could last 12 rounds with Froch, too fragile imo.

Noticed you post this a few times now. I've only seen the Bika fights but Dirrell doesn't look anything special. I think George has a good chance. What do you see that I don't?
Is it that George isn't all that either?

He's a control freak. Just look at the phrase he's adopted 'everything for a reason' he uses it to convince himself and others that he's in total control of every small thing.
Of course when it doesn't go his way there's an excuse outside of himself.

Dirrell is quite rugged. he's a decent to good boxer and he has an engine good enough to hang with Bika twice, which is more proven than Groves right now.
He's beatable that's for sure, but its as close to 50-50 as you can get.
Groves needs 1 more proper test IMO before jumping in to that fight
