Especially, at 130 and 135 lbs, he was one of the fastest and smartest fighters of the decade. It all went downhill when he fought Edwin "Chapo" Rosario in '86. He won by a disputed UD that many of Rosario's fans thought Rosario won. Chapo shooked him up plenty of times in that fight, and Macho's desire of fighting went south. He was never the same fighter.

Kostya Tszyu wins this fight. He was good enough in his prime. When Macho was at 140 lbs, he was already in decline. He was not the same fighter of the early 80s anymore. He was one of those great talents that never took adavantage of his potential. I imagine if he did. Right now, I believe, we would have talk about him as one of the all time greats.

Riddick Bowe, Buster Douglas, Wilfred Benitez and Macho Camacho are some examples of good fighters that did not like training. I imagine if Benitez took the sport more seriously.
Agree with you.
Camacho was in decline following the Rosario bout. Maybe not physically at that time, but definitely mentally.
He was fearful to mix it up and it showed in some of his biggest bouts against Chavez, De La Hoya and Trinidad.

Faced with a guy that could hurt him, Camacho had no stomach for battle.
Tszyu could whack and Camacho would have responded the same way he did when he faced other elites...fighting in defensive survival mode.

Tszyu would have won a clear, unanimous decision.

But it will always be remembered for the original version of the "Zab Dance"
It was a hell of a first round, Tszyu might have been down by the nearly insurmountable margin of one point.

Truly one for the ages, that comeback.
