I predicted Curry over Honeyghan by about a 4pt decision. That was the weekend in which KO Magazine's number 1 and 3 PFP fighters both got smoked.

Worst...... Provodnikov vs Bradley, Hatton vs Pacquiao, Tyson vs Lewis

-I thought in all honesty that Provodnikov was nothing more than a "television fighter" who would get exposed against Bradley, and for weeks bitched and moaned on the radio that I thought this was nothing more than a cheap and easy title defense for Bradley. I never been so glad in all my life to of been so wrong, cus that fight was a war.

-I honestly thought that Hatton was still at the top of his game, and I thought that he had the style to give Pacquiao problems. After all, I watched Hatton practically from the start and seen him lift Freddie Pendelton off the ground with body shots for crying out loud. When he beat Kosta Tszyu I thought for certain Hatton was "the man". And while it's true he started showing a decline (especially after Mayweather) I thought he had enough to take Pacquiao into deep waters. Was a scary sight, seeing Ricky on the floor like that, I thought he was dead.

-In retrospect, it was emotions over-riding common sense. Guys from a earlier generation had Sullivan-Corbett, Jeffries-Johnson, Dempsey-Tunney, Louis-Marciano, Ali-Holmes... my generation had Tyson/Lewis. Nobody here in America really liked the Englishman who considered himself a "citizen of the planet" claiming he was of this heritage and that heritage, who spoke all eloquent and preferred a jab over a hook. Far as anyone was concerned, we all hoped even if Tyson was shot to pieces he would get lucky in there and Lewis would be done with. Unfortunately, what we all saw was a shell of a man being almost beaten to death by a giant.

Looking back my favourite one was saying on here there was 'no chance' Steve Molitor stopped Michael Hunter at the exact moment he was stopped.

My worst pick would be Holyfield/Tyson 2.

Evander had dominated Mike the first time. When that happens in ANY other fight I can't convince myself that the guy who got dominated the first time is somehow going to win the rematch but for some reason I was picking Tyson.

I predicted that Golota would outbox, embarrass and knock Lewis out. My friends, who were casual fans of the sport, received gracious advise from the 'master' to put money on Golota. I was mocked for years.

Jaclem actually sat across the opposite side of the ring from my great grandfather at the Sullivan/Corbett affair. I've always been fascinated at how their stories differed, simply due to their positioning at ringside. Of course Jaclem will deny he was there, and blame his fading memory, the real reason behind the denial is that he still owes my great granddad from the bet he lost that night.

Gramps told him not to bet on Sullivan, but Jaclem wouldn't listen.

I thought Minter would beat Hagler.

I based this on Hagler being away and the trouble Finnegan had given Hagler.

..... a correction to my clay/liston post. the musician i referred to was TERRY gibbs, not tony. terry was a top jazz vibist and he was into boxing, which is why i talked to him about boxing on my show, so it well may have been him.

ihave retired from the tyson/tillis post, but i guess i can make a comment here....on a different discussion.

i just recalled i can now get you tube! so i checked out that fight. and see that after all the years since i saw the it live, i find that my analysis nailed it. just google tyson vs tillis and it's there.

i missed a few rounds of some corbett fights by laughing so hard at corbett's butt in those thongs he wore instead of trunks.

I thought Sugar Ray Leonard would beat Hector Camacho.

Even though Leonard was older than time itself, I thought him being naturally bigger size & the fact that Camacho wasn't a concussive hitter would favour Leonard.

I thought Leonard was a shrewd operator who, at that stage, was handpicking his opponents to suit himself.

How wrong I was.

I'm sure that's why Camacho was selected...a big name opponent with no punch. Leonard looked like a safe bet if he had anything in the tank. Apparently he didn't. I believe he blamed a calf injury for the defeat, saying that he should have cancelled the bout but felt the fly-by-night promoters wouldn't reschedule it.

I opined that Barkley would crush the shell of Duran, but Manos de Piedras turned in a stunning performance that made the bout one of the most thrilling seen during the 1980s.
