The Froch/Forest thing never really worked to the extent people make out though. Which is a shame because hes one of the ones whos genuinely a Forest fan. Froch's really big crowds came once he became like a UK wide fighter.

Even when he was fighting for world titles in his home town of Nottingham he wasn't selling out the 9,000 arena (Bute & Mack possibly sold out on the last day in the end but not in advance)

Yeah the Forest thing has come more into play now though (a bit late in his career as you say). I know a lot of Forest lads who went to Wembley for more of a Forest outing than because it was boxing. Same with Vegas, a lot would be going out there to represent Forest abroad if it ever happened. But this is all post Bute.

I think that could apply to any football fans now though with Froch he's become like the UK representative similar to Hatton in the later stages.

Boylan does well with tickets, don't know if his last fight might mean a dip for the o2 but hopefully not. John Wayne Hibbert whose been on the same shows always seems to bring a decent number with him too.

Josh isn't using Leeds, he was a long term season ticket holder for years. And don't underestimate how many bandwagon jumpers there are in Leeds. It's a massive city, starved of sporting success.

That's the key to getting football fans involved. They're not going to be won over by some fella who starts spouting off about being a huge fan of club XYZ if they've never been regulars. Groves & DeGale can try all they want but they won't build a fanbase from the football clubs.

Probably would have been better off choosing success starved clubs themselves who don't fleece every penny possible from their 'fans'.

Newcastle United would be perfect. Passionate fan base with no recent success. Does Brad Saunders associate himself with them? I'm sure I seen an interview with him saying he's not fussed with NUFC...

On the subject of football and using it to sell tickets I'm sure Brian Rose supporterd Blues until he moved to Matchroom then it was Blackpool funnily enough to coincide with a big show there he was headlining

They would be a great team to try and get the fans over. Look how much they loved Andy Carroll.

Imagine if a young lad who played in their academy as a number 9 but got an injury that stopped him making it pro carried on to being a class super-middle whilst all the time still supporting the 'lads'.

That could be a license to print money.

He hasn't been the most popular anyway DeGale, so its another excuse for people not to like him. If he keeps doing it, I will be pissed off very quickly and wont care. Aligning yourself with football clubs is something I can't stand and I would love the board cut it out or stamp down on it. The amount of popular fighters who didn't do it is endless.

Those two are the two I don't mind. There not in your face about. My point is that we don't need to be constantly reminded about what team fighters support.
