I'm not saying take my word for it. Go and actually watch the Shavers-Bugner fight on Youtube. After getting up from the "knockdown" Bugner winked at the ref. An accidental clash of heads with seconds to go caused the cut that had a squeamish doctor advise the ref to stop the fight..

I can watch that fight without having to search for it on Youtube, and indeed have seen it many times. You need to watch it again because your description is pure fantasy.

There is no lowblow whatsoever prior to the first round knockdown, none, nada. How embarrassing for you. It is preceded by Shavers stunning Bugner with a huge overhand right, and a body shot - the belly, the gut, not the balls. He was in fact getting to Bugner repeatedly with big punches in the first round. The uppercut that jolts Bugner's whole body is a signature Shavers punch. Are you honestly going to attribute sarcastic quotation marks to that knockdown? Why such bias with this particular fight?

You're either an idiot or a troll with an agenda. I can't decide and don't really care. Go write something about how Larry Holmes really slipped in the 7th round versus Shavers, at least that would be amusing.

Sorry, neither troll nor idiot. I like Shavers. Talked to him once in Vegas. Nice guy. But he definitely landed one left below the belt just prior to the uppercut that helped Bugner find the canvas. Bugner was not seriously hurt as evidenced by the wink he gave the ref.

You need to reduce your meds and see things more clearly.

Nate Tubbs caught Sanders in a bizarre angle when Sanders was against the ropes and about to pivot away.
That freakish punch would have KO'd anyone

as far as the fight with Joe Bugner,and that was proceedid by Earnie Sahvers notorius known tatic of holding the back of his opponents neck
with his left glove whilst delivering a devasting right uppercut .

He also tried that schtick on Jerry Quarry too.

I'm calling your bluff Caaractacus. Just watched both the Bugner fight and the Ellis fights again and there wasn't anything even worthy of a warning. Did you really think no one was going to watch this?

Technically Cap is right that a couple of punches landed around the belt, but were far above the border. Bugner didn't even complain. And yes, Bugner was seriously hurt, "wink" or not.

I believe Bugner did complain later about another punch that was south of the medicine line. He probably figured one is an accident, but two?

Good fight bad ending.

Neither were worth a "keep em up" warning from the referee. They had zero impact on the fight.

Thats because the ref in both cases did not see it.
Shavers was slick.
However the ref in the Quarry vs Shavers bout caught on to it and gave Shavers a warning.
(you do know that holding an opponent by the back of the neck and punching is considered an 'illegal"tatic?)

In the Ellis and Bugner fights he didn't do anything worth even a warning and the referees correctly didn't do warn him. He was warned against Quarry which was warranted; even that was a minor infraction and he was backing up when he did it. He was not holding Quarry's head and trying to land a haymaker. Certainly not worth a penalty; just a warning. Some referees would have let it go completely without doing anything.

This an overreach in claiming Shavers illegal tactics that led to his wins. Quite an overreach.

Ali was much worse of an offender with the pulling the head down. I didnt see anything too much to worry about on these videos, and if anything Bugner is more guilty of holding, tying up and hand behind the neck.

Always enjoy watching that masterful disassembly of the biggest punching HW. Quarry was one of, if not the best "non champion" of all time.
