Richard Hatton.

The big man Lennox opened my eyes to how big boxing can be in the Tyson fight (I was 11 at the time). Hatton got me properly into boxing.

After the Ragamuffin Man got me interested, it was eubank for his absolute entertainment value that drew me in, and the guy that lived around the corner Mr Gary Mason.

I Was then hooked for life.

Nigel Benn versus Lou Gent for the WBC Super Middleweight Title was the fight that really got me seriously interested in 1993. I couldnt really explain why as it was a pretty unremarkable fight. In hindsight you have to wonder how Gent managed to get the shot in the first place. He had beaten Hunter Clay for the WBC International Belt beforehand at Tooting Leisure Centre. But apart from that his record was pretty moderate. I was a Nigel Benn fan after that.

For me Herol Graham. Then Benn came along and shook up the middleweights in the UK, Im not sure if im getting too giddy but for me Benn was the UK's Mike Tyson. Frank Bruno was always a fav too because everyone liked him.

McGuigan v Pedroza.

Don't remember watching a fight before that.

That and Denis Taylor v Steve Davies were stand out memories.

It was bomber Graham for me; it was agony watching him box, I was convinced whoever was fighting would land a big punch and knock him out, even when he was miles in front. Herol dressed cool, spoke softly and there were posters of him on south yorkshire buses telling us not to write on the seats - he was the business.

Yeah I remember those, on the back of Yorkshire Traction buses. "I'd like to meet the people that smash up buses". I thought it'd make a cool t-shirt so I contacted them a few years back but they'd no proofs of the poster or anything.

Ironically, the bus I used to get home from school usually had those posters defaced or ripped...

After watching the rocky films over and over as a kid I saw dave McCauley vs fidel bassa (first fight) and it was like rocky, for real. That got me hooked. That was in 1987 so I've been watching for almost 28 years...

Same for me, remember the Bruno v Cummings fight on Sportsnight and also think McGuigan v Laporte was shown live on ITV on a Saturday night. Was great watching them move towards title shots, as a 13 year old I genuinely thought Bruno would unify the heavyweight titles and beat Holmes DD

I'm jealous of the young uns those throwing up names like David Haye! I'd finished boxing by then and my interest in the sport was on the wane.

As a kid in the 60s it was cooper v clay/Ali then the 68 Olympics with chris finnegan showing my age lol

Cheers mate just coming to the end of the first week and another to go ,it's not all be easy though they ran out of lobster last night and I had to have steak instead :) must of put on half a stone already free beer and food is a dangerous combination and the Latino women are pretty easy on the eye good job I have some very dark glasses :P

I remember the buses in Donny, written on the back of those seats were 'Dont spunk on the seats' never knew what spunk was until an american asked me one day 'How much spunk do you have'!

I still remember hearing the news that Najib was killed. Along with the news of John Candy's death and Diana those stick in my head.

I used to write 'I love Foxy' in a love heart on the bus so the lasses in our school would think I'd got a mysterious and complicated love life.
