IF Haye returns and IF he's fully fit, I think he's top 3 HW in the world. I don't see anyone with his movement and reflexes and not many have his power either. A Wlad rematch is unlikely and Wlad would beat him again. But aside from that, I'd back a fit, sharp David Haye against the others.

Unless it's a mandatory fight. Wlad loves the belts and is willing to do more than most to keep them all. If he's willing to give Tony Thompson a rematch to satisfy his obligations, he'd definitely be more than willing to do the same for Haye.

as long as his shoulder is fixed he would obviously be back in the mix, its not exactly an amazing division at the moment is it?

People will always go on about the fight in Germany (and believe me I feel as strongly as anyone about it as I was there) but lets be honest he can be explosive when he wants to be and I would still like to see him back.

Haye used to be my favourite fighter, I remember him coming up the ranks as a prospect on those BBC shows, he was the Audley undercards or Froch bills. He was dynamite, the sort of guy I think makes boxing so exciting: Following a promising talent from the start of his career.

Over the years he has accomplished a good bit but there is that sense he can do more. If he is serious this time (and who's to say how much of what Haye says is true) he can make a very good run at heavyweight. This time, I'm going to forget what he says and just try and enjoy his fights. I feel like he's going to put in a few more great performances before he is finished.

David Haye has waited in the side lines for the top heavyweight champions to decay. He knows that there is nothing around when the biggies finally vacate titles and decend into retirement. David Haye has cheated many fans out of money. He should have the balls to come out and say those who have lost money supporting me get free tickets to my next fight. That wont happen because he will fleece more money out of the boxing fan.

Yet neither Pulev or Fury had to beat a single top 5 to become mandatory challenger for a version of his titles.

I think Haye beats anyone in the division right now bar Wlad.

I think he's second best as well, but if he blows out someone like Lucas Browne I'll expect renewed proclamations that he'd 'smash Wlad' or 'at least really give it a go unlike those fat piles of crap Wlad fights.' Actually, given his performance in the first fight I think that the latter line would be replaced by something like 'he realizes the mistakes he made/wants to win back the public and would put it all on the line in a rematch.' I'd also expect some 'his toe is healed' and 'he doesn't have a busted shoulder anymore so his haymaker will be even more devastating' to be thrown in, along with trite blab about Wlad ruining boxing by consistently fighting top contenders and scoring highlight-reel knockouts while Haye spends years doing nothing in the ring, which is then all topped off by something about multi-million dollar 'slave contracts'.

If he's serious and comes back as good as ever then he could well be the 2nd best in the division ( always thought Povetkin would be a tough fight for him stylistically ) but there are too many if's.

The proof will be in the pudding and if he does come back he needs to win people over again.

I understand those slagging him off, especially those who shelled out good dough going to Germany only to be served up a lacklustre fight. The injuries for Fury were just unfortunate.

I agree. Have been a big Haye fan and been plenty of his fights, and if (big if) he does as he says and works his way back for a title shot I'd still be willing to support him. I just think too much time has gone past without enough fights. He might get away with it at lower weights but at heavy he only has to be caught by one good punch off an even half decent heavyweight and its lights out.

Does anyone know what he weighs at the moment? In his past few TV appearances he's looked noticeably lighter than his heavyweight days.

Dont be daft at the moment Fury struggles to sell tickets and his last fight was very poor (not on his part but the general one lopsidedness and lack of action). Haye is a huge draw his last fight was fantastic and it sold £35k tickets, hows he suddenly less marketable than Fury?

Haye-Fury was a sell out, Haye-Charr was struggling.
