Fuking great shout, some fight that was at the Aston Villa leisure centre, probably one of the best fights in Midlands I can ever remember, if only Mutley had taken a Knee in the 10th when he was under pressure, he was exhausted at that point though more than hurt from the punches.

Mutley broke Andersons teeth threw his gumshield with that left hook in the 4th round he dropped him with, at end of fight Anderson had to leave his gumshield in to keep his teeth in place, Ben e king tried taking it out at end of fight and Anderson said no leave it in I think my teeth are Fuked lol, truth.

I spoke to Tommy Gilmore about it a good while after and he said Andersn was never the same after that, one tough fuker.

Shea Neary v Terry Sutherland; Neary was badly cut and the ref visited his corner and said one more round; Neary came out and wrecked Terry with a single right. (I thought it was the 3rd or 4th round but BoxRec has it as 2nd round).

Micky Hughes v Gary Jacobs; Hughes was far behind and getting a slow beating, one left hook later and Gary and his senses were separated.

Yh me too, was a great small hall venue, some great nights there, to name just a couple more recent ones before it closed, Macklin Vs Elcock, Bendall Vs Elcock, what a beating Elcock gave Bendall that night another tough cookie, how Bendall lasted 7/8 Rds of taking them full bloodied, flush right hands I'll never know

God yes i hadn't thought about that fight for years elcock looked absolutely devastating. Hit bendall with just about everything but the spitbucket, the best.i ever saw from elcock, against a decent,, skilled boxer

I often forget about Elcock going over to fight Abraham for the IBF

Quarry v Zanon - Quarry outboxed for 8 rounds, catches up with the fragile Italian in the 9th.

McCall/Mercer v Damiani - Speaking of Italian heavyweights who blow leads suddenly, Damiani was well ahead against both before getting his nose busted.

Audley - Sprott II is one for me

Muttley-Anderson is a great shout and the fight that drew me into the domestic level scene and sites like these (followed up with Macklin-Moore a few months later)

Thompson vs Rothman

O'Neil Bell had a humdinger with Rothmann, he was behind slightly going into the 11th and needed a big couple of last rounds to get the win and absolutely nailed Rothmann cold. Great KO. I seem to recall he did the same against Mormeck in their first fight before nailing him late on too. He would do almost the same thing against Arthur Williams twice, and Kelvin Davis.

Penalosa vs Jhonny Gonzalez, Micky Ward vs Alfonso Sanchez (both from body shots) ... Bonecrusher vs Bruno. ... Tua vs Oquendo... Kevin Barry, Tua's trainer and manager at the time, was in Tua's corner and he told me he knew that David was trying too hard for the knockout, was too tensed up, and thus losing every round. So, at the end of the 8th, as Kevin related it to me, he told Tua: "Look, David, forget about knocking him out, just go out there and win one round for me, OK?" The result: A more relaxed Tua went out and blew Oquendo away in the 9th. That, to me, was one of the great unsung bits of corner advice ever, up there with: "You're blowing it kid, you're blowing it!"
