I'm going to be controversial here and predict a 12 rounder where 2 guys are a little gunshy being over cautious due to the other guys power.

Stivern to win the early rounds with Wilder doing little other than throw the odd hopeful bomb.
Stivern to survive a few hairy moments in the mid rounds and drop a couple rounds, but wilder will punch himself out trying to find the finish and his lack of 12 round experience will lead to stiverne taking the last few rounds to take the fight 115-112, Stiverne down once in the 5th.

I would fancy Stiverne to beat Wilder but looking forward to it. Doubt I would bet on this.

This will be similar to the Seth Mitchell vs Arreola fight imo - Wilder will come out swinging but will be decked & stopped as soon as Stiverne lands his first shots.

I will therefore be putting my house on Stiverne in the 1st :TU: :bag:

I can see this happening but not as quickly - I reckon Wilder dropped in 3rd

I'm not sure that I've seen a HW with skinnier calves than Wilder.

I'd say so too.

In his 13th fight Wilder went life and death with 17-20 journeyman Harold Sconiers getting put on the canvas in the 2nd round.

Stiverne KOd Sconiers inside a round as did Kevin Kingpin Johnson.

I'll be shocked if Stiverne doesn't KO Wilder ice cold with the first clean shot he lands.

Deontay is underweight for his height as a heavyweight similar height to Wlad but weights 20lbs less (just under 1.5 stone)

He weighs 15lbs less than Anthony Joshua.

I don't know whether or not you're being serious but I thought I was the only one who sees a 12 rounder here. They are not going to be taking risks with each others power. Stiverne will be waiting for Wilder to commit and meanwhile Wilder will be cognizant of not committing too much and getting countered. Meanwhile Wilder will be marginally winning the rounds. I don't really see fireworks in this one.

Completely serious mate. Not sure my detailed round for round plan for the fight will pan out as i've said but it seems a possible series of events.

Too many times we see 2 bangers get into the ring and the assumption is there has to be a knockout.
The fans and pundits alike have told us there is no way on gods green earth this can go 12 rounds
But the reality is, they are bangers because they've been bowling over bums and when they face their first real challenger who also packs a dig, the plotline of their fights changes radically.
yes, both man hits hard, but it takes more than being heavy handed to knock guys out at a higher level. And this is the highest level either man has competed at

I might be wrong and there may be a quick stoppage. But i predict that it will not only be a 12 rounder it will be far from the explosive affair everyone predicts because both men will fight cautiously for the vast majority of the fight.

115-112 Stiverne!

80-20 Stiverne soaks up the early pressure and flattens Wilder within 5. But Wilder has the power to finish things quickly if Stiverne lets him connect flush.

Judges are not needed that's for sure
The referee has the power for an early stoppage for Wilder
I hope they given the champion a fair chance, just like they gave arreola a chance despite being on wobbly legs

Definitely a chance of a stinking premature stoppage.

If Stiverne fights Wilder the way he did Arreola he'll get knocked out against the ropes.

Certainly true when it comes to *judging* we see some awful, awful decisions from the US (who of course don't have a monopoly on that).

But doubt your scenario plays out, because *referees* in the US often let the action go on far, far too long. Painful to watch when someone's getting battered round the ring and the ref doesn't stop it.

So chances of a British-style stoppage for me are not high.

Im all over the 'wilder is going to get derailed' train, but im not sure stiverne is the guy to do it. I think wilder might just land hard early and not give the Canadian a chance to land anything.

6 days to go till the first big fight of the year, and definitely should be one of the most exciting

Excellent build up vid here

http://www.sherdog.com/blog/Video-Showt ... lder-80013

The bookies have the big American favourite, and I can understand their thinking: he seems an electrifying puncher, and he's got the height & reach on the much shorter champ. Be great to see him win as well, very exciting, charismatic and seems a really nice guy in this video, when you see him with his daughter.
Stiverne seems to have his head screwed on too. He's really paid his dues, unlike the American, and is also a devastating puncher. And definitely has the better chin .
Good thing too, as he'll need it.

I think he needs to finish it early, because he doesn't wanna be hanging round with a puncher like Wilder. He can't afford to make any mistakes either...I get the feeling he might take out Wilder early, but definitely should avoid any of the showboating on the ropes that we saw last time out.

I haven't looked forward to an HW title fight since 2011.

Lets hope this doesn't turn out to be a damp squib like Klitschko -v- Haye.

I'm not bothered about the belt, as we all know, whoever wins will NOT be the HW champion of the world, but it's good to see two of the best HWs in the rankings meeting.

Deontay looks so wild and crude, but can punch. Stiverne just isn't that good either - top10 at best. Tyson Fury would prob beat him.

I would say stay away from this bettors. Too many intangibles
