Dave Sands 110 fight's only 10 losses tragically killed when 26 year's young was ranked the number 1 contender for the middleweight championship of the world.There was no IBO/IBF/IBU/ETC................ETC. ONE WAS A MIDDLE THE OTHER A SUPER MIDDLE LHT HEAVY CRUISER.

The only man in front of Dave at the time was the legendary: Sugar Ray Robinson. That sums up just how good Dave was before he tragically died.

Even with the disparity in weight Sands would still probably win. Greens best wins were Eric Lucas and a shot RJJ who didn't bother warming up before the fight. He got flogged by a guy with no amateur experience in his 2nd preferred sport a shot,semi retired Tarver who hadn't fought at CW or KO'D ANYONE FOR 4 YEARS!!!!!! and a guy coming off a gift decision and a suicide attempt as well as a C-level Marcus Beyer. He was taken the distance by Shane Cameron who had to lose 9kg in 7 weeks who was D-level at best people. Please mods take this guys thread starting abilities away.

i,m coming out of hibernation for this topic, i was 16 when Dave died,every young kid in Newcastle used to idolise Dave and his brothers, there was none of the mundine
[anthony] garbage in those days,and if a fighter wanted to jump up a division or two they didn,t hesitate,Sands held Middle, Lightheavy and Heavy titles, he was a different class of fighter thanGreen, Green was a plodder very methodical, Sands was a very heavy puncher, Robinson who i thought was the best, wasn,t keen to fight Dave after Dave,s fight with Robert Villemen,who a year later went 15 rds with Sugar.it is hard to compare fighters these days to the past, as they are only having two or three fights a year, it is more like a comeback from hibernation,and 6 fights they end up aussie champs then they win the bogus belts and become future world beaters,i see the Poms gave a couple of our boys a lesson lately, i think the tomato cans should be barred.
