I really really hope you're right. I'm old school; I think you should beat somebody first !
I have no problem with the wresting-like antics, but Shannon has to beat a top 20 guy first.

How about a top 261 guy? The last guy he fought is ranked 262 by BoxRec.

The only good fighter he ever beat was Lyakhovich, and Lyak was ahead on all cards until he stuck out his jaw for Briggs to hit in the final round. In other words he took a dive.
What Briggs should be doing is entering senior bodybuilding contests because he has got himself in very good bodybuilding shape.
But if he actually gets in the ring with Wlad, Wlad will probably finish what his big brother almost did, killed Briggs or turned him into a vegetable.
Come on, to say Lyakovich took a dive is beyond stupid. The guy got gassed and then wacked out, plain and simple.

I explained my position on that statement on another thread recently. Lyak. was ahead on all cards going into the final round. Before the final round Lyak's corner was literally screaming in his face to just stay the hell away from Briggs, because B had a puncher's chance. So what does L do? He stands right in front of B with his jaw sticking out like a big target. That's why I said he took a dive. Is something wrong with the guy? A couple of weeks ago he almost pulled a big upset over the highly touted Ruiz. The judges delivered the usual lopsided hometown decision. I thought that L should have gotten a draw. But he displayed no emotion, not even disappointment.

I'll accept a guy in the top 26. But Shannon isn't even fighting guys in the top 100.
