Hell of a fight. I lean towards matthyse based on the better boxing iq.

Matthysse should've stayed with Haymon to keep this fight from ever happening in US society. You know I won't be watching... I'll just watch reruns of defensive masterpieces, where fighters still get hit, just not quite as often." - BAD INTENTIONS :-?

This fight would be my odds on favorite for fight of the year candidate. Matthysse has looked more human the last two fights. I think that Garcia fight really set him back. It was a really close fight where that knockdown really hurt him and it was a funny looking knockdown to me because it didn't seem like a special punch that put him down. Easy for me to say from my couch, i know.

Provodnikov was revealed by Algieri to be a pretty limited fight IMO. He couldn't cut off the ring and was just a one punch chump the whole night not even trying to setup any punches. Now look what Manny did to Algieri. He didn't have any trouble finding him and knocked him down 197 times.

Matthysee wins this one late when Roach calls off the fight from the corner.

I say potential trilogy of the decade material even if does come with a massive health warning and potential career shortening prospects for both of them.

Two big punchers, one who's more methodical with his approach (Matthysse) and the other a search and destroy type fighter (Provodnikov). Mattysse is definitely the better boxer, but he doesn't really have the wheels or defense to stay away from Provodnikov. Either Mattysse has the power to stop Provodnikov or Provodnikov pushes forward and breaks Mattysse down. Very interesting fight. I slightly favor Mattysse, but wouldn't put anything on it.

The March 28 date appears out the window now and it's questionable whether it will take place in SoCal if it takes place at all.
Yeah I read about that, shame if it falls through.
I read this morning its only been pushed back to Apr. 28(?) I believe. On HBO obviously. Terence Crawford's 140 debut will be on the card too, vs Thomas Dulorme.

I hope that I am in the vicinity of where this war goes down. The only drawback is that the fight will have a very high bar to reach to match expectations.

Provodnikov says that the fight is "almost" a done deal for April 18 on the East Coast.
Apparently no exact site yet.

You think the bout might be more exciting that Pac vs. Money 2 weeks later?

April 18th on the Crawford/Dulhome card. Split venues, the fight will be held at a casino in Verona, NY. StubHub was already booked that day.

can't help remembering from the Molina fight a lot of the success Molina had, the times he had Matthyse hurt, were with wide hooking-type right hands that Provodnikov throws a LOT.

Ugh. F#ck ticketmaster. Tried to get ringside tickets to this this morning & first thing I got at 10am when they started selling was some sort of issue with their site. Took about 90 seconds for it to come up without that error & the best tickets available were the $50 tickets. I was like wtf man. Thought maybe there was a problem cuz surely they didn't sell outta ringside tickets in a minute & a half. When I refreshed the best ticket was now the $35 tickets :mfingfacepalm: I guess I ain't going to this afterall cuz f#ck being in Verona NY with bs seats.

Guess I'll try looking at secondary ticket sellers in the next couple days & see how bad they are trying to fleece me.

I was trying to get ringside tix for this one too. Jumped on it right at 10am and the best seat available was first row after ringside so basically 5th row. $120 for two tickets? You kidding me? They left a lot of money out there that's for sure. I"m in the 5th row on the floor for that cheap?

I did hear that along with the ringside ticket value $75, you had to pay a $500 casino fee so don't feel bad.
