Legendary Nights - The Tale of Gatti Ward

The Jack Johnson doc is quality.

The Tupac/Tyson one I found annoying. Some annoying lyricist with a lisp "spitting rhymes" all the way through it, celebrating a crack dealing, rapist. Do one.

The Tapia documentary is a great watch, tragic story but worth a watch to even those who know the story.
Find it on youtube if possible though as the constant ad's on that dailymotion are a pain in the hoop.

Agree that the ESPN one on Larry Holmes v Ali is great. Also any legendary nights (HBO). Best one in my opinion Chavez v Meldrick Taylor,v poignant.

Easily the best boxing docu I have seen. Had to keep myself together during certain parts of it.

Just saw on IMDB there's a new boxing documentary due out soon called 'Champs' featuring Tyson, Holyfield & B-Hop. No idea what it'll be like, apparently 50 Cent and Mary J Blige are also in it so I don't have particularly high hopes, but will keep half an eye on it.

A programme called "Losers Limited" made by Central television about 20 years ago.

A link to 'Box On' has been posted in Boxers of the Past. It's worth a watch to see a young Frankie W blazing his trail.

I would second Bright Lights Dark Shadows, which is wonderful and instructive.

Beyond that, there's an HBO series fronted by Jim Lampley which I think is called Legendary Nights. They're all superb, but I enjoyed most the ones about the fight between Chavez and Taylor, which is heartbreaking (and which, without wanting to reopen a long running and ancient BoxRec Forum debate, I still view as a Richard Steele perpetrated travesty), and Foreman and Moorer, specifically for just how sullen and introverted Moorer comes across. Teddy Atlas comes out of that very well, too.

Anyway, they're all worth watching, if you can get them, firstly because all the fights are wonderful source material -- drama, heroism and tragedy of a near Shakespearean order -- and seconly, becuase they've got all the HBO, glossy, high production values.

Yeah that's what I thought at first, but who knows, maybe 50 Cent will give the inside story of his fallout with Mayweather...Fvck knows what Mary J Blige is doing on it tho.

Thought i'd bump this up to see if anyone wants to recommend any others, any new ones come out?

Just finished off the list by watching the Hilton brothers one. That is some f****d up family right there.

Have a look for Maravilla - a documentary about Sergio Martinez.

It was really good and insightful - although made thoroughly depressing viewing with regards to the behind the scenes business of boxing.

He couldn't get a fight and moved to Spain for years fighting for a few quid, and taking fights in Britain etc.

He also states that he boxed Antonio Margarito for $1,000 yes one thousand dollars (one !) - that is less than 700 quid - it was the only way he could get a fight and some exposure.

I watched it on Netflix a few months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it ,Martinez is a class act in and out of the ring,Lou DiBella having a go at the WBC was brilliant

Watched the "champs" one yesterday,thought it was a good, incitefull watch

There was one called "The Purse" years ago. All about The Cartel, Wazza and Mendy. I had it on VHS, can't find it now, though.

Just finished watching the Wilfredo Gomez docu that the OP posted(cheers jay). Really good,I'd seen some of Gomez's fights on YouTube but didn't know much about the man
