This fight will determine (if it ever happens) who is the fighter of this generation.
Also it will push the winner up the atg list.Like it or not. That can not be disputed.
They both need this fight

Floyds mediahype, his 0 and his way of outboxing opponents has gotten his fans all deluded. Yes he is phenominal, but in terms of acchievements, the many belts in 8 weight classes, his fights with opponents that actually had status and posed a threat at the time facing him, pac is way beyond floyd, and even a loss to floyd wont diminish his curricullum. On the other side, floyd has everything to lose. The only thing he has going for him that will be remembered when hes done boxing and a few years has past, is his 0. If that goes so does his legacy. In 50 + years from now, people looking at boxing history will be way more impressed with pacs legacy than floyds. No doubt. And rightfully so.

Now I will not agree with this.As with Pacquiao,Mayweather's best opponents are in earlier weight divisions.
Pacquaio has fought and beat a lot of the same fighters as Floyd.Just the majority of these were after Floyd had beaten them.
No one can argue that their resumes are not impressive. But they are not that far apart in comparison
They both are atg's and the winner would be the one that generations later people will still be talking about.

Lol to so called boxing fans these days willing to dismiss an entire career of a great fighter if he losses one fight.
How simpleminded and hateful is that??
I'm ashamed to call myself a boxing fan if this is what it has come to.
What if they do fight and Floyd wins, would that have been the only fight he would've need to have fought in order for people to give him credit for years from now Mr. Butterbean??
See how flawed or hateful your insidious logic is?

your flawed logic: If Pacquiao beats Mayweather, he still should not be considered the greatest fighter of this era.
heres the flaw: You presuppose that Pacquiao isnt already the greatest of this era, which he clearly is.

How he arguably lost 3 outta 4 to Marquez......every top dog he beat outside of Morales, Mayweather already beat.

You just don't like him so naturally you won't agree, there's no way in hell Manny can be considered the best of this generation, he has 5 losses and 3 by KO and arguably has lost all of his fights with JMM.

It doesn't matter who is at fault, personally I blame both and their promotional/management teams over the last 6 years as well as the TV companies.
The excuses are pathetic, the lies told to the boxing public are inexcusable.
They have denied the fans the biggest fight in the history boxing for over half a decade.
They have completely denied them the chance of seeing it, with both men in their prime.
We had 2 guys, top of pretty much everyones p4p list for the past 8 or 9 years and they fought in the same weight class.
The fight was there to be made and at any time in the last 6 years and would have earned both guys outrageous sums of money.
They do need to fight each other, they did need to fight each other.
If they do not now fight each other, it should go down as a black mark against both mens career, regardless of what they have achieved!

dude....roy has like more than 5 losses and is considered by many as one if not the best ever. everybody losses, its simply normal. when the best fight each other than somebody losses. floyd got 1 loss (castillo I) and 1 draw (maidana I), imagine him going up quicker in weight and instead of boxing bullshit like bruseles or coley, boxing guys like prime tszyu, prime mosley, prime cotto and prime margarito or prime williams, than i assure you he would have had some L's more.
pac was like 16 when he had those losses and marquez was losing on points before he caught manny and the fights before manny mostly won, so quit the bullshit.
i mean, both manny and floyd suck. one is a boring as fighter and the other is a animal torturer, so i dont care for both, just statnig facts.

I was being sarcastic.....made a thread bitching about Froch refusing to fight a top dude instead of fighting a fat, lazy ass Chavez who has looked like total dog shit lately. Guys kept bitching saying Froch paid his dues......if so then Floyd and Pacman have too since they've done 10 to 20 time more than Froch has.

He was named Fighter of the Decade by the BWAA. The nominees included Mayweather himself.

The BWAA is more objective than opinions of peers and random fans.
And even when polling the fans, we all know Manny would win by a landslide.

Fans just like Manny more because of his humble personality and Floyd is an asshole in his public persona but that FOTD is a bunch of BS, he lost twice and still got the award, I'll remind you that the award is Fighter of the Decade, not BEST FIGHTER OF HIS GENERATION. (A generation is longer than a decade)
Those are two different things, all of Mayweather's peers and the overwhelming majority of sportswriters have already stated that Floyd is the Best of This Generation; ask the best fighters and they all agree. Your peers are your best judges, the public is too biased (such as yourself).

Although I would class the Froch situation differently.
He has fought pretty much everyone he should have and we all know his place in the pecking order.
He beats everyone except from Ward, who is head and shoulder above him.
He's retiring and looking for a payday and I don't grudge him it after a career of battling performances
I'd like to see him give Ward one last go, I'd like to see him give degale his shot and i'd like to see him in with golovkin.
But for me, none of these things need to happen, he could retire tonight and i'd be pleased he hadn't ducked anyone
we may have top agree to disagree on that but he deserves to hand pick 1 fight and make his payday and get his fight in Vegas, if that's how he want to end his career.
But Floyd and Manny is in a whole different ball park to the Froch situation (I appreciate you were being sarcastic to make a point)

I disagree that it does not matter who is at fault! So far all the evidence points to Manny and Arum not agreeing to the "A" side's demands but somehow they are given a pass. In no other fight is the "B" side been given so many passes and so much leeway.
Floyd cannot make Manny agree to blood testing, that is what killed the fight back in their negotiations in 2010, Mayweather then offered Pacquiao 40 million dollars, the highest purse any fighter has ever been offered at the time in boxing but still Manny refused, another DUCK.
Floyd cannot make them agree to something that they don't want but if they do not agree then that is what you call ducking, none of Mayweather's demands were out of the realm of making this fight.
Mayweather agreed to all of Manny's demands but when he asked of one back in 2010 then he got a resounding no and Pacquiao ducked out of the fight.
The blame should be on Manny, the facts are out there for the entire world to see, negotiations in the media do not count; all that matters is when they both sat down to legally discuss this bout and Manny ran away from the needles.
So far they are doing well by keeping the talks going and neither party announcing either has disagreed or ended the negotiations but Manny Pacquiao should not be given a pass for ducking back in 2010 with the weakest and most pathetic excuse any fighter has ever made (I'm afraid of needles/having blood drawn weakens me).
I know you Pacquiao fans will whine, cry and call me names but I have posted the links to the facts that you all continually ignore. Put the blame where it belongs for the fight not happening when it mattered the most in 2010 on Arum and Manny Pacquiao.

“Manny has 100 per cent signed his side of the deal,” the source told Telegraph Sport. “It is now over to Mayweather to close the deal and announce the fight.”
http://www.fight hype.com/news/article19325.html
That's not true," stated undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather, who once again refuted reports that a deal has been finalized for the long-awaited mega-fight between himself and 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather made the revelation during a brief interview at the NBA All-Star game, which is ironic considering that it was erroneously reported by multiple sites that he would announce the fight during the game.
"I haven't signed yet and he hasn't signed yet. It's just been speculation and rumors, but hopefully we can make the fight happen," Mayweather added, shooting down a report that was published in a UK newspaper on Saturday suggesting that Pacquiao had already signed an agreement. Although Mayweather's comments make it clear that a deal has yet to be finalized, Fight Hype.com has been advised that both sides are still working on finalizing some minor network details and a deal could be close.
