Murray just made a lifelong fan of me in this fight. Absolute heart of a bull. He is still fighting back and he has taken everything 3G could dish into 10. Murray fighting hard in the 10th. The shots Murray has landed coming from a SMiddle with power raise serious questions.

I would rather 3G keep fighting at middle. That is his weight. Just keep fighting anyone with the nutz to get in the ring.

good stoppage, good win GGG, if Murray had any kind of punch we might have seen something else.

I want to see Ward GGG at 168 or maybe Froch at 168, but definitly Ward, I say Ward KO's GGG, but the fight would definitely be interesting

If Murray had rep as big puncher GGG would of boxed a little different. He knew Murray couldn't hurt him so he didn't mind.

Great effort by Murray. He fights totally different in title fights than when he is facing nobodies (when he often sucks).

He should move up, regardless of who holds what I think he beat the other best MW about tonight.

The stoppage was not premature. He was way behind and getting pummeled, with no signs of turning it around.

Like Stevens or Rubio ?

I've been waiting to see Golovkin in a good fight. :yay:
Murray fought very well and isn't going to be taken lightly by any other MW's. A bigger puncher could have hurt GGG with some of the quality shots Murray was landing, but who else at MW can take a lot of GGG's best shots and still have the ability to land good ones of their own? His bigger punching opponents haven't been able to land the same way.

Golovkin is clearly very good, but Stevens & Rubio were technically borderline top-ten contenders at best.

I reckon that GGG's team learned a lot from that bout, because those that aren't biased, carrying rose-tinted fan-based eyeballs, will surely realise that Golovkin's defence was porous in that fight.

I'm one of the most enthusiastic Golovkin fans you'll ever meet, but I'm not deluded and I won't proclaim him to be an all-time-great until the quality of opposition he faces improves... drastically!
Don't you understand that he largely ignored defense, because he fought an opponent with great chin but no punch ? His offence was his defense, and in most cases it will be. Only a fighter with great technique, great chin and good punch can challenge him. Take one out of these three, and you have nothing to do in a ring with Golovkin.

Ward will beat that ass when he moves up. 100% sure Ward wins.

Ward doesn't have a good punch, and his chin is far from iron. His only chance is hit and clinch tactics, so a lot would depend on a ref allowing or disallowing excessive clinching.

Nope. Doesn't have the power to push GGG back and doesn't have the workrate to outland him. And I doubt he has the chin to hang either, although that's more debatable.

Ward gets bossed like all the others. Like ikorolev said, you need power and I would add workrate. Ward doesn't throw enough to keep up with G.

Plus, Ward has wasted his prime in the courtroom. His best years are behind him now.

Like Macklin, Stevens, Adama, Geale, Rubio and Murray ??? Welters should pretend being middleweight champions or the best ever boxers, and Golovkin will not call them out.

We do not know that.Ward has absorbed next to no punishment in his career.
He could still be in his prime. It is just a wait and see game.

Ward is younger than GGG

I'd swap Murray and Stevens - Murray lasted longer. took less punches (292 in more than 10 rounds vs 293 in 8 rounds), landed more punches (131 vs 97) and was still firing back right up until the stoppage, whereas Stevens went into his shell.

Ouma gave GGG undoubtedly his toughest fight, but apparently GGG was majorly sleep deprived going into that fight which affected his performance.
