Floyd's age is irrelevant, in terms of in-ring wear and tear they are leagues apart.

Manny is hardly a spring chicken himself.

I still consider this a great fight regardless of timelines, its hardly in the Lewis vs Tyson territory of to late.
Being nearly 40 years old is never irrelevant in an athletic contest. Never.

A 38 year old body doesn't shrug off a punch the way a 28 year old might. Regardless of the carefully crafted record, Floyd is an old man and the right opponent will reveal it.
and a 36 year old body that has been savagely knocked out wont recover from a shot the same way either.

I fully understand your sentiments, and actually agree with the principal.

If Pac was significantly younger it would have more impact, in reality there is nothing between them in terms of age, and when you take there respective careers into account it should become clearer that the slightly younger man should appear the more vulnerable to athletic and physical decline.

I agree Pacman is easily the more ringworn, but I don't know whether Mayweather with his safety first, low punch output has the style to exploit the wear & tear. I don't think he can unveil a showstopper like Marquez - I also don't think Pacman is liable to go headlong at an opponent ever again, either.

This might be a mad theory, I don't know whether anyone else has had this impression, but it seems to me that Pacman has been coasting in his fights these last few years. As if he was preserving himself for an eventual Mayweather showdown. The only exception was Marquez, who he went for, decked and was attempting to devour until the sudden reversal.

Mayweather is going to throw a lead right hard and so so often in my opinion to deter Pac from setting a rhythm. by rounds 10-11 thats going to start having an effect and i think Pac will really start to either look timid or hit the canvas.

Pac will in my novice opinion take 3 of the first 4 rounds before Floyd's gameplan starts to show success.

I dont know if its possible to coast for that many fights at that level. You could be right, but i just think his whole demeanour has changed since becoming more and more embroiled in outside the sport interests/work. He has possibly become a "softer" person or certainly just a less ruthless animal(which is in my opinion what made him so incredibly dangerous for so long)

Yes, I know it's too late and would have been better 5 years ago.

BUT,

Boxing badly needs this match-up because it's rotten at the minute.

The sport finally has a few nice fights in play after Wembley.

Mayweather v Pacquiao
Kovalev v Pascal
GGG v Martin Murray

My only fear is if Sky Sports get it, that they don't ruin the commentary like every fight they broadcast for the last 2+ years.

I like to think I'm one of the more positive (gullible) posters on here but as much as I want to see the fight I can't be doing with anything regarding it

Floyd and Manny spouting how their glad this fights eventually on,

Seems like that to me.
True, but I guess there's no real need to go mad on a cross-country promotional tour, this fight sells itself, so the fighters can concentrate fully on their camps.

Really pleased to hear they've made it at 147 and get to pick their own gloves. We have a proper fight!
I don't agree with this fully. For the core boxing fan; there's no need for a build up.... But there are plenty of general sports fans that can get pulled in by additional hype and a road show.

I dont care what year it is and what age they are. Its on and im shockingly excited about it.
As a boxing fan I cant see the fight being an anti-climax. If it goes a 'boring' 12 rounds then i will be watching in awe of how Mayweathers unique ability has managed to negate Pacquiaos relentless attacks. (Assuming thats what happens)

My biggest concern is how much money is involved, too many people are gonna be coining it in. These kind of situations make me think that too many people have a lot to gain with a 2nd or 3rd fight etc. Dont be surprised by some dodgy scoring or decisions allowing this to happen.

Maybe the world isnt as corrupt as I think but with $250,000,000 dollars + floating about I have my doubts.

It said on Talksport this morning that a date had been pencilled in for the re-match (I can't remember the date they said).

Well done to Team Pacquiao & Team Mayweather on their excellent negotiating skills in order to get this fight made.

Just to think, World War 2 lasted less time that it took those clowns to put this fight on.

Who did you use? If you don't mind what sort of price was it all in and what hotel? What are you doing regarding fight tickets?

So with your post count you were obviously banned and you thought you would start a separate thread rather than post in the ongoing one.

It's still an excellent bout between 2 fantastic boxers, I hope allegedly picks it up, I think it'll be a good scrap but Floyd will be too strong for Manny.
