Re: GGG ..didn't like the bodyshots

The bout reminded me of Chavez v Rosario; martin is a very strong boxer but was pinned on the ropes for an awful long time.
Very astute of you to notice. You are correct sir. GGG is the best fighter in boxing. He's physicality is un matched and he's very smart. You could say he pressures his opponent both mentally and physically.Ricky_ wrote:Golovkin is something special. He invents punches. He comes down overhands as if they are mirror image uppercuts. Never seen anything like it before.
Murray never once bothered or hurt GGG to the head but I noticed that in the mid RDS Murray landed a few body shots and golovkin stopped in his tracks for a second this would lead to GGG then attacking Murrays body with much better results BUT I stand by that GGG didn't like the bodywork of Murray.ReggieDiggs wrote:Well first off who likes bodyshots? But what exactly did you see as far as GGG being troubled? This fight looked like a guy trying to escape a beating in a locked room. It was Martin running to the ropes with GGG quickly behind him, GGG hitting him up against the ropes & then Martin escaping only to get as far as the next side of the ropes with GGG quickly behind him again & GGG hitting him up against the ropes again...over & over. It was a nice effort by Martin to last as long as he did while offering up lil in return for most of the fight, but if GGG had any issues it mighta been wind issues from chasing Martin every round & throwing so many damn hard punches.

And it might be unfair if a huge guy like Chavez Jr. started hitting him with those trademark Mexican hooks to the liver.
Better stick with your usual array of faceless contenders, Triple G.
Quality guys may make it a little hard on you.
spot-on , cos he got robbed blind against Martinez !ikorolev wrote:Murray did get gift decisions twice against Khomitsky and looked less than impressive in his previous fight (against Spada). He seems to lack motivation when fighting weaker opposition.

Close decisions may go differently than you saw or preferred them but they should not be described with the words "robbed blind."handsofstone wrote:rd350lc wrote:spot-on , cos he got robbed blind against Martinez !ikorolev wrote:Murray did get gift decisions twice against Khomitsky and looked less than impressive in his previous fight (against Spada). Ward is going to get brutalized. I don't really feel like Triple G needs to move up to 168, but I would like to see him destroy Ward.jezzamundo wrote:I disagree - I think that's one way to beat Golovkin, but it needs to be coupled with physical strength and the ability to tie GGG up, push him back and fight him on the inside. Ward is the guy to do it, if he's still the fighter he was before the lay-off. I would want GGG to win, though, because he's by far the more entertaining and, for me, likable fighter.Ian1973 wrote:ikorolev wrote:Frankly, I did not expect Murray to be so tough. I thought he would be another Macklin or Geale. Best wishes to Martin in his further career. If he fights every fight like this one, he could grab a belt pretty soon.
Murray has always been tough as teak. It's probably nigh on impossible to stop him certainly at middleweight. Golovkin is almost a superhuman machine. What amazes me more than anything is that it just literally doesn't bother him taking shots. He doesn't move his head, he doesn't move his body, he literally just lets people connect and doesn't so much as blink. His chin and his conditioning are probably even move impressive than his power.
The only way to beat Golovkin is to dance, jab, move, get in / out, speed. Golovkin is deceptively quick at cutting down the ring so it's going to take an exceptionally quick, slick fighter to stand any chance.
It is obvious to me that Triple G has incredible punch resistance. He took flush shots from Curtis Stevens and didn't flinch.koolkc107 wrote:GGG retained his power into the late rounds. I take this as a sure sign that, however nice the occasional body shot landed by Murray might have looked, they were not all that effective in what body shots are supposed to be effective at- sapping stamina and taking something off an opponent's power.
Question is, is it Murray's lack of power or GGG's ability to take a blow or some combination of each? Murray did have Martinez on the canvas...
I don't think Stevens landed too many huge shots. He is limited and GGG is excellent defensively.Baby Face Finster wrote:It is obvious to me that Triple G has incredible punch resistance. Watch the fight again. You obviously don't remember or missed them when they happened.koolkc107 wrote:I don't think Stevens landed too many huge shots. But, in spots, Stevens did back GGG up...gotta think a guy like Quillin might have similar success.
Yes no one like it to the body but some guys don't show even when tagged with a good one.ikorolev wrote:Is there anybody who likes to take shots to a side of the body ??? They did not affect Golovkin's performance, so the trouble was minimal.kidbazooka1 wrote:I know what TS means when Murray went downstairs GGG had a weary posture lowered his arms in indication that they were troubling him.
But with that said he had nothing to fear in Murray who couldnt crack an egg if he tried.
No need. Remember it quite well.Baby Face Finster wrote:Watch the fight again. You obviously don't remember or missed them when they happened.koolkc107 wrote:
