Fielding is in the top 10 with the IBF isn't he? If Smith beat Rocky the IBF might sanction DeGale vs Smith if JDG beats Dirrell in April. One last shot at a world title for Smith and the belt stays with Matchroom either way. Maybe a hard sell considering DeGale has already beat him but an another all British SMW world title fight would probably do well anyway.

Murray needs to be tested again, theres no point him dropping back a level just to look disinterested, lethargic and crap like he did against Spada and Khomitsky .

Jacobs, Heiland, Rubio, Korobov , Geale, Vera, Spike O' Sullivan or O'kane wold be my hit list for now.

Did anyone here - Teddy Atlas' opinion on his Murray/Golovkin on FNF this week. Pretty scathing really, disagree with him but I think this is going to be the problem re promoting Murray.

I didn't catch what he said this time, but in the past he's ranted about GGG's opposition being poor and I imagine that he lumped Murray into that.

Putting Jacobs in with those is a joke, if he wasn't American he wouldn't get a mention. Quillin won't fight him, Froch won't fight him and Ward hasn't been the most active in the last few years. I'm not sure who he really expects Golovkin to fight.

Jacobs fought one top ten opponent and got flattened, his best win was arguably over someone BJS steamrolled in two, and his other standout win was a competitive decision over a blown-up Ishe Smith who was in the middle of a three fight losing streak but still managed to hurt Jacobs twice and get the better of four out of ten rounds on two cards. I regularly see him mentioned alongside the absolute best of the division but he doesn't belong there and I think you're right that him being American is an important factor.

It's easy for people to say GGG should fight opponent x or y, but getting those fights made is another matter even if he's willing. Atlas's tone is highly negative and it's almost as if he's blaming GGG for being so good; it's not as if he's a big middleweight and while I'd be interested in fights at 168 I don't think he should be castigated for not moving up or not facing people who are unwilling to fight him.

It sounds like khan may well fight cotto now i'm assuming the WBC would let cotto retain the middleweight title during this time.

If I were murray i would be looking to fight Geale its a name thats fought at world level and former world champion if only just to keep some status. His only other routes are to hold out for the WBO route like you are saying, but he could end up having to wait for BJS to fight for it and then Eubank jr to fight for it - who are both with FW or allegedly and we all know FW is well in with the WBO.

The IBF route but i think its going to be really hard for him to get a match made with Taylor, the IBF title is likely to stay in the US for sometime. If Quillin beats Lee i can see a WBO/IBF unification fight, as could i see a an WBO / WBA unification fight with Jacobs, there could even be a IBF/WBA unification fight. I could then see the winners going for a triple unification fight, that could go on forever.

There is always the option that Eubank gets a shot at Jacobs since he has the interim version of the regular belt, if he was to win then we could potentially have the WBA and WBO titles in the UK. In which case Murray would be well in the mix for shots at either Lee, BJS or Eubank Jr depending on who has a belt or belts.

I think its all going to be dependent on Andy Lee retaining the world title. However i could be wrong because im sure FW said BJS gets to fight the winner of the Lee v Quillin fight as the mandatory.

I'm glad jacobs got the to win a world title after everything he's been through, but after his initial lower level fights where he looked impressive, he really struggled once he stepped up. I remember watching Pirog hurt him with every single shot, he just beat the lad up.

I agree with you completely, the reality of it is Jacobs v Fletcher was a shockingly bad paper title fight, neither are anywhere near world class.

Although i think murrays problem is he doesnt hit hard enough for the SMW and i would have thought he is too big to move down a weight.
