Fury starts singing Total Eclipse of the Heart.
SNG wrote:True, if Fury can take him rounds and lean on him in clinches Haye will gas and be there to be stopped.
That was always the danger for Haye. He wouldn't be able to compete in the latter half unless Fury was hurt or tired, but neither could he afford to be reckless from the bell. He'd have to let some big shots go earlier than he did against Harrison, but then maybe that'd be easier against the busier Fury?

I'd still make Haye the favourite, but with an uncomfortably short window of opportunity to win. Rounds 2-5, I'd say. If Fury could weather any storms that came his way, he'd start assuming control.

I think it would be an easy win for Fury. He's too big for Haye, he's quick aswell and can fight either orthodox or southpaw. He would jab haye's head off for 12 rounds and put all his weight on haye if he got in the inside.

The size difference is the difference!

I'd say so too.

I think there was a very good reason that the Fury team decided to drop a World Title Eliminator with Pulev and take Haye instead and I really don't think it was just the money. Pulev would have been the much tougher fight IMO.

The more cautious Fury 2.0 would just jab Haye's head off IMO and after about Rd 6 I think Haye would either retire (like Hammer & Chisora) to avoid a KO or get on his bike a la Wlad with a couple of late 12th round hailmarys.

Sorry cant agree, the Haye from 3 years ago would have flattened Tyson.

Wouldnt have gone 6 rounds.

Today's version of Haye, maybe so, but a prime version is too quick and hits too hard for any version of Fury we've seen

I think today's version of Fury outpoints Haye comfortably if he doesn't get drawn in.

Which version of Haye as a heavyweight would be considered as prime?

I'm guessing the one who fought Valuev and Wlad. Let's be honest though Valuev was complete and utter shit, taking away his size. Haye was decent but up against a true, quality, real heavyweight, he was always gonna struggle. Wlad beat him easily.

Two piss poor performances right there! He barely threw anything. To knock someone out, surely you've got to hit them... I personally don't think Haye would want the fight as he wouldn't be able to cope with losing to Fury. It's easy to cope with losing to Wlad, much like Hatton used to repeat(constantly) that he'd only lost to the best two p4p fighters in the world.

Haye by devastating pull out!

This fight will never happen because Haye has lost his hunger & just wants to be a C-list celebrity these days.

I'm not sure he would want the Fury fight. A loss and he's practically done at world heavyweight level. I think if Fury keeps Haye at range he beats him, reasonably comfortably.

Prime Haye was anything we see from Thompson on really. It certainly won't be anything we see from now on

Valuev was indeed fairly cack but he didn't push the Haye fight one bit, threw even less than Haye did and basically fought like he was out for a Sunday stroll. He had also shown zero sign of being anything other than granite chinned up to that point so Haye was hardly going to go out and risk blowing himself out.

Wlad, different beast entierly, not even relevant in any potential Haye/Fury match up.

Fury has never been hard to hit. He has been caught flush off of fighters who don't possess a quarter of a prime Haye's speed or skill. Fury can box at range and has also thrown in the odd southpaw stint, but that has been against plodding, one paced, and frankly, very average, fighters who he could take liberties with.
Throw in the heavy knockdowns he has suffered at the hands of heavyweights with no real history of power and I can only ever see a prime, fit and firing Haye knocking him out.

Then again, thats not relevant now as I don't think we see that version of Haye again, or any version come to that.

Just how good Fury is or isn't will come out in the wash eventually. Unless of course he can continue to find plodding, one paced heavyweights who can't crack an egg and keep people interested. I want to see him challenged, for his own sake too. Going into any potential Wlad fight ( which I don't think his team really want ) on the back of his list of opponents is called cashing out. Certainly not giving him the best chance of victory ( mind you I read on here somehwere that he spars his brothers who are big guys, so maybe I shouldnt be worried  )
I am a fan of Fury but I didn't bother watching his last two fights as to me they were pointless and everyone knew the only possible outcome from both.

Have I missed something? Has Tyson fury morphed into Evander Holyfield all of a sudden?! Tyson is a decent heavyweight by today's standards and has a lot of things going for him. However, a fighter like haye is his worst nightmare. Quick and heavy handed, let's face it Tyson ain't difficult to hit. I like him but he loses easily to haye. Even this version of haye.

If he turns up

Absolutely right.

I don't get the Tyson Fury love at all.

He's game & he's interesting, but that's it.

If Haye is anything like he was last time he felt the need to box professionally & before he thought being a celebrity was his main priority in life, he decimates Fury.

Fury has no defence & little power; he has nothing to deter Haye.

Totally agree. Who is Fury's best win? Who has he looked good against? Has he even boxed anyone who carries power? The hype is absurd, he'll likely get ko'd by the first genuine puncher he faces. The fact that he was quickly manoeuvred away from Price suggests his team has the same concern.

I like Fury and I think he is great value, his fight against Cunningham was genuinely engaging and good to watch. That's Steve Cunningham though, 36 year old career cruiserweight. Perspective. Tyson was actually behind in that fight at the time of the stoppage!

It can't be a coincidence that they have swerved facing anyone who has shown a semblance of power at Heavyweight.

I don't see how people can dismiss Haye as 'too small' given what happened against Cunningham, who isn't remotely a puncher, is no bigger than Haye, and in his other notable fights over the last few years was nearly knocked out in both losses to Hernandez and was put down twice by and went life and death with Mansour. I'm sure people will note that Fury got up to beat Cunningham, as he did again another non-puncher in Pajkic, but getting up against someone with Haye's power is a very different from getting up against someone with below average power even at cruiserweight, and although he's been inactive I suspect that Haye still has the speed and skills to penetrate Tyson's defense without great difficulty.

I'm curious about how Fury will handle shots from a puncher and when that happens I won't be surprised if he shows more evidence of being chinny in addition to his trips to the canvas against non-punchers and shaky moments against Firtha.

I think if Tyson boxed like he did against Cunningham, he would be stopped . I'm sure everyone in the Fury camp are also aware of this.

Don't get me wrong there is a lot to like about fury. His willingness to fight anyone for a start. He has a lot of skills for a big man as well but come on a fully fit and motivated David haye knocks him out early doors

Previously I would have definately picked Haye, too fast, hits too hard with Fury to big a target, I also thought pre Thompson that Price was a league above Fury.
However bottle and confidence plays a big part in this game, Price's confidence is shot, and Haye ducked Fury, he doesn't fancy it, which will lead him to put in a broken toe performance.
Fury knows this too and his confidence will be sky high. Both Price and Haye will need to step in to do a job on Fury and beat him to the punch. Neither will risk it.

As if it's any sort of risk for David Price. His career's in the toilet. He needs a big fight and Fury can't do to him what TT did.

Why can't Fury land a crappy arm punch behind Price's lug?
