That was closed circuit tv and relatively cheap compared to today's high priced PPV's. You had to go to a theatre to watch.

It's simply not true that 300 million people paid to see it. I think it was around 2 million in the USA. Try to put your thinking cap on.

New York Daily News, New York Post, Time Magazine, International Hall of Fame, New York Times and Sports Illustrated ALL say that there were 300 million paid viewers in theaters around the world. . . . Yet YOU are the authority?. . . . Is it because you have been conditioned to believe that boxing is a niche and minor sport?. In 1971 this event was the biggest event of ALL time covered as the LEAD story by every media outlet, front page of every newspaper and discussed at every coffee shop, water cooler, bar and deli everywhere. I was in first grade and WE were talking about this Ali/Frazier fight. It was a global event.

Boxing was a massive sport then. 300 million people watched it, they didn't all pay for it. You just don't understand much of anything. Nobody in Mexico has EVER paid for a canelo fight.

No one is even commenting about Ali and Frazier splitting 5 million.
Even if the promoter only got $1 cleared off of each 300 million seat sold.
Ali and Frazier would of been the most screwed guys in history
