Before these orgazinations popped up 40 or so years ago world champs were determined the way we now determine lineal champs, the man who beat the man, and The Man fought all comers. They aspire to be the best. The belts mean nothing. GGG is the best MW despite Cotto being the so called lineal champ with a belt. I don't need ABC organizations to tell me who the best fighters are. The fighters determine that by fighting.

First thing they gotta do is get rid of leonard and other guy cuz that shiit was embarrassing. Lenard sounded like a fornicating first timer who barely started watching boxing.

I tried to be as open minded as possible going in and I have to say that my overall grade is pretty low on the PBC Event Saturday Night. I won't go as far as to say that it "Sucked" though. Visually, I thought that it was pretty unique and it reminded me of "The Contender" series, which i loved. The worst part was the announcing. They need to get Marv Albert out of there. He and that dead carcass on his head have seen better days. He needs to go. This TV team doesn't come close to HBO and SHO's teams.
Boston area sports radio was talking about it yesterday and there were many people calling saying that they have been absent of the game for many years but look forward to more bouts. So it's not for the purest, they already have us. They want the people that left the game or never was a part of it. So overall, i think that they caused people to talk about it and that was their first goal. Success.

Well, people would also talk if somebody pooped in the middle of the ring. Boxing on national TV is great, but I will join to people who raise concern that PBC will take more sport out of boxing and make it a pure show.

For a first broadcast, one bringing boxing back to primetime, this was an overwhelming success.
Was Broner/Molina a great fight? No, but obviously it was good enough to hold the audience.
And Thurman/Guerrero will get mentioned in the FOTY debate on the strength of those last 3 or 4 rounds.
Just a good night for the sport.

world class boxing on prime time free terrestrial tv is almost impossible to suck.
this sounds like people had unrealistic expectations. i really couldn't care less
about the production values but if aesthetics bring in a bigger audience of people
looking for general entertainment then i'm sure they have people looking into that.
i'll keep watching. i think advertisers usually pay for viewers in their 20's and 30's,
even though they usually don't have the same discretionary budget as older folks,
because they believe younger people aren't set in their ways yet are more influenced
by advertising. i would think that all depends on what you're advertising. there
is definitely a difference between millenials and x'ers and boomers, though, and
you can usually tell very quickly who a show and the sponsors are trying to appeal to
and whether or not some people like this or that might be generational. i think a
lot of millenials walk around with their tablets and stream a lot and don't even pay
for tv, and they're also WWE and UFC core audience so i can see al trying to attract
those people. i just have a hard time complaining about this as i remember lots
of great fights on free tv growing up and glad it's back. they didn't even play commercials
between the late rounds and showed the corners. once again, haymon is not the promoter.
there are licensed promoters staging these events.

It's not often that a fight that's been scored 120-107, 118-109 and 118-108 gets considered as fight of the year however that's what they did on NBC. Didn't the MC also suggest the fight was "one of the best you'll see at welterweight"? Strange stuff

Totally agree with the take about the scoring. Yet the last few rounds were compelling enough that it will surely get mentioned. No way it comes close to winning tho.

We used to have free boxing on TV all the time with USA Tuesday Night Fights, ESPN Friday Night Fights ( The good ones with Al Bernstein and Barry Tompkins) and CBS and ABC Saturday. That was all better then todays network televised fights. Hell some were better then HBO and Showtime. Miss those days for sure.

I liked PBC........announcer was just trying to gets the viewers excited, and maybe over did. Kinda like u guys hating on a series after one show even tho Thurman/Guerrero was a good fight. Even Broner looked good, Molina has had to many tough fights in a row and I think it finally caught up to him. Both fights were good on paper. To watch 2 legit top 5 welters(best Division in boxing) fight on NBC and u guys still mouth it.

It's a different world now, so many options for entertainment......I suppose I can't blame them for trying a little hard sell. I used to love boxing on Saturday afternoons back in the day, that's when I became a fan. But, seriously, what in the world was on against it??? It's so different now, this will be viewed as crap by a lot of people, but if they put on reasonably compelling match ups, I will be nothing but pleased as a fight fan. I may be shortsighted here, but I see this as good. Boxing will never, ever be anything close to perfect, this is as good as it gets. Rival promoters and networks working together without difficulty and delay? Dream on....
