Everyone is different... there is no 'one size fits all' proposition in boxing... we all age differently. I know men who are around my age and have lots of issues in health--- and I know men who are in their 60's, 70's even 80's who are remarkably fit. As far as I am concerned, as long as the matches are competitive (same size, same age or near, etc) and they pass the physicals let them be.
HOWEVER... I am something of a reformist, and do think there should be 'semi-pro' (unlicensed) bouts in the States. I think that would actually benefit alot of people who may not be either cut out for the pros, or for those who have reached the twilight of their pro career but would still be 'live' in the semi-pro circuit.
I also am of the belief, someone with a horrible pro record--- ought to be given the chance to return to the amateurs--- or there should be a new set of licenses in the sport where only men of a D-License can fight other D-License fighters, etc. that way that cuts down on mismatches, inflated records, etc.

Those things don't mean there isn't a problem. Other than the odd exception who proved the rule, men in their forties should not have the physical wherewithal to compete against men in their twenties and early thirties. That there is a greater percentage of older pros than in previous generations doesn't say a lot for the youth of today - or, from an alternative POV, it may suggest the youth of today have more sense than to get punched in their head to try and make a living.mickey1975 wrote:There's no problem in this case. i don't believe there is an age, iam 33 and still think i have the heart to be a champion, so god knows what some one with skill thinks
