Everyone is human and unless every single thing they say is 100% in line with manufactured political correctness they always run the risk of being targetted for what they say.

I'm not Bunce's biggest fan by a long way but at least the guy isn't a false PC robot.

I guess it is a silly topic if you choose to ring-fence Bunce from any criticism. I like Bunce and I'm glad he's not perfect, I'm not keen on the smarmy word perfect types.

The thing you have to respect with Bunce is he loves the sport and covered it for years for pittance purely out of his love for it. He didn't fall into it or see it as an opportunity to make a name for himself like so many of the people who are involved in it at higher levels.

I'd much rather listen to him and his opinions than those of the jonny come lately boxing experts that litter the media these days.

They do get pulled up for it on here in the same way someone would for using other types of labels tbf. In and around mates who have the same type of views then they might get away with the usual tripe.

in the interests of balance, I'll go along with this. I agree he comes over as a bit unscripted most of the time, but it's his experience and genuine interest in boxing that lets him pull it off.
Also he's a grafter - I suspect he'd hawk himself anywhere before he'd sign on. Also - anyone that works a 12 hour shift of live broadcasting and looks like sh*t - and is happy to admit to feeling like sh*t, I'm happy to stay up looking like sh*t with too!

the original British honest guvnor type boxing broadcaster
not afraid to tell it like it is

Bunce bad:

difficult to hide his alienation with the Matchroom/Sky crowd
liable to overdo the shmoozing with fighters
needs to lose weight

I had to make the list to decide which side of the sh1t line he is. But he comes out on the good side. Must be a struggle having to deal with Wank Farren's pitiful stable. For the global boxing scene I'd say Ryan and Ade at Boxtalk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPktTR8uxC0 are the kings. They generally do a weekly round up every Sunday and they're more comprehensive and less sponsor-whoring than IFL TV.

I thought he'd just been training really hard over the last 9 months or so? They've brought up his new slimline look a few times.

He has lost weight but...he's also seem to look "iller" in the face...but maybe I'm reading too much into it...
