I've heard they have said the video has been edited before he 'falls' so definitely some type of wind up.

With concussion being a major issue in football (and sport in general) at the minute i'm guessing he probably wouldn't have been allowed to play yesterday if he had been ko'd!

Someone who has boxed for years as a schoolboy would retain the knowledge to comfortably deal with almost all non boxers in a spar.

I don't think wayne rooney boxed

but his younger brother did as I went to Danish tournament with him about 10 years ago

It happened a few weeks ago apparently, so wouldn't have had any effect on him playing yesterday. It seemed genuine enough to me, and surely even Rooney isn't stupid enough to take part in a wind-up that would land him in hot water at the club. He downplayed it in the post-match interview, but nothing he said made me think it wasn't a genuine clip.

Looks like he was reading off something? Is this a common thing with footballer interviews?

Has far has i can see anywhere ,, He never said he boxed ,,, He said he went boxing TRAINING theres a difference ,, I've got 3 sons they grew up coming to the gym with me . , They wanted to come with dad and hung around the gym from the age of 4-5 years of age .. 2 of them boxed , the youngest one and actually the best out of the 3 never boxed , he just trained from the age of about 10 .

He actually went into wrestling , and was very good , but all three always seemed to have an advantage in sports over other kids , in the fact that , they had grew up in gyms and training was second nature to them they always had a natural fitness and strenght that came from it .

But like a lot of other kids that start too early they also gave it away (sport ) early . .

I can see where Rooney is coming from , that boxing training helped him , probably more so with the disiplne needed , but he has never said he was a boxer . ...

Anyway he still got droped with a straight left he was square on , so he could'nt have learnt much . ha ha

According to Bardsley's wife, the video cuts off and doesn't show Rooney jumping up and laughing and joking with Phil. Not sure if it's true but it didn't look like a KO to me.
