I think Stevenson v Kovalev is a great fight and pretty even. Stevenson beat the #1, but yes a definitive 1 at 175 could be disputed as well.

Neither Trout or Lara would be the 1 though.

It's very easy to debate Stevenson being number one when you consider more than one fight. Besides, Dawson had just suffered a bad stoppage loss against someone who hasn't come close to stopping any other top fighter and he had already clearly lost to Pascal, not to forget that he looked horrible in his comeback. I think the beatdown against Ward took a lot out of Dawson before he got to Stevenson, and considering that Pascal unanimously beat Dawson prior to that I don't see why Stevenson's win over Dawson should trump all else.

Strange you mention that one as Matsumoto has all but stated he will not be fighting at 115lbs again, and he can't, due to the licensing rules in Japan, fight Inoue as they are both from the same Gym (Ohashi). A more interesting match up there would be Cuadras Vs Inoue or Tete Vs Inoue.
Announced this morning that Ryo won't be going back to 115. Amazed he ever made the weight, he's taller the Satoshi ffs!

I wonder what his reasons are not going back to 115. Dodging someone? Image

Probably the fact he can't fight Inoue (Japanese rules) and he's a HUGE guy for 115. Makes sense to join the packed Bantamweight division rathert than starve down.

How come you question Wlad as number one because he's not fought Wilder but don't question GGG at number one even though he's not faced Quillin, Lee or Cotto. In fact he's not faced anyone in the current BoxRec top 10. Don't get me wrong, we all think he beats all of them but surely Wlad is more proven as number 1 than Golovkin?

I don't like Klitchko, but Wilder is still a joke compared to him at this point.
won 33 (KO 32) + lost 0 - world rated 4

if this is a joke to you, than everything is a joke to you in boxng. i am not saying wilder easily beats wlad and sure can wlad beat wilder. but either it oculd be a dq win for wilder, because in my oppinion most wlad fights are dq wins for the opponent, because it is boxing, not wrestling and when you wrestle to much, you should get dq, but luckily for klitschkos they are buying the refs and dont even get point deductions. money works.

down the line the thing is this. he is athletic, he got a solid jab and he punches super hard and can box good quality, like he showed against stiverne and rarely lose a round. wilder is impressiv and until wlad and wilder dont meet, we sure aint know 100 % who the #1 is.
well it is pretty simple: I don't think wilder is all Hype but until he has beaten Wladimir he cannot become number 1. if he does not fight wlad and wlad does not lose to someone else wlad stays number 1, it is that simple.

if wilder does beat wlad he is the number 1 of the Division.

i made a thread about divisions a while back.

now with crawford facing postol and glowacki against usyk, kovalev-ward, also lomachenko moving in weght, we will get more divisions, where we will get a clear #1 in a division

To respond to the thread subject. . . . I can't even name all of the weight divisions. . . . (for instance there are 10 weight classes at 140lbs. and under and 4 major sanction bodies)

I was going through boxrec rankings and i wanted to determine the #1 in every division, like i often do, than i noticed that in 70 % of all the 16 division in boxing, we sure aint know the very bes, because all the fights do not get made, i hate it. take a look.

hw - no klitschko vs wilder and what is the body builder jushua taking so long!!
Seriously? Joshua is just pro for less then 3 years, he carries a belt for not even 3 months lol and everything around him is designed to fight other beltcarriers as soon as possible. Even the television rights have been thought about, if Wilder really marks his words when it comes to a serious fight between him and a good boxer for the first time in his life, there's no way around the fight between Wilder and Joshua, Joshua already took care of everything??
Also, Wilder isn't even a top heavyweight, Dillian Whyte for example would probably win against him, Fury would make fun of him, Ortiz would probably win despite his age, Wilder even continually tries everything he can to delay the fight between him and Povetkin, Parker has quite a fair chance as well. I think even Takam can give him quite some problems.
