Taking bias out of it, this is pretty poor from Kell.

No way can he start talking about people not fighting competitive fights etc if this one goes ahead. Bundu would be more deserving and a decent measuring stick against Thurman. Even then, Bundu would have been a disappointing choice!

If it`s going to happen,I would rather it be now on this show, then build up as something it`s not as a standalone ppv show.If they get someone like Rios in August happy days at least he`s being active,but of course he can`t slate Khan about his opponent choice until he himself signs to fight someone decent.

If this fight goes ahead on May 30th it leaves the Birmingham show a bit bare. Does that mean Eddie Hearn adds Anthony Joshua to the May 9th show and has him and maybe Kal Yafai or Matthew Macklin as the main event, in order to make it a successful show?

Although I can sort of understand why, and agree that this fight does look poor on paper, got to say that I'm looking forward to it & am very intrigued to see how it unfolds. I've always wondered how good Frankie could be on his day, and I have a feeling he might finally show us.

Frankie seems to lack physical strength and i don't think he will be able to keep Kell off him,it looks to me like a straight forward stoppage win for Brook.

Based on what they've shown as pros I don't think Frankie is a level above Jo Jo Dan. He struggled with Skeete too and looked lackluster in other bouts, so it's not like his fight with Bundu is the only time he's shown limitations. I think it's time to move past Frankie being a standout amateur and realize that he's not as suited for the pros.

Rather Gavin that someone like decarie. If he has to fight someone in the top 15 before a big summer fight I would much rather it be between two brits rather than someone at the same level as Gavin but which no one has heard of.

People in Canada have heard of Decarie.

I like Frankie too much as a person to slag him , but after watching his last few fights i must say he looked so boring continuing in his amateur style.
Just look at some of the current former amateur champions who have adapted .
I also think he is fighting in the wrong division.

Ridiculous match up in my opinion. Is this even close to being a 50/50 fight. Hearn managing his fighter. Would have prefered Gavin Vs Van Heerden as a match.

Maybe for the likes of us, but the average casual fan - which is always the target audience for a PPV - probably doesn't even know about the Bundu loss. Plus it wasn't even shown on Sky, so will be easy enough for them to gloss over if they want to.

Anyone know what's happening with the Birmingham card or with Van Heerden? Got to feel sorry for those who've bought a ticket for 9th May, and surely there'll be financial/legal implications for Gavin if he pulls out of the fight so late simply because he's had a better offer?

I know a couple of people further up the thread have said that if Brook has 2 more fights this year they can accept it but for me there is no excuse. As much as i've wanted Gavin to win a world title, he is in no way deserving of this chance and is a poor choice of opponent. How is this going to encourage him to work on his flaws when he can look awful, bore the crowds and supposedly not live the life yet he gets gifted a world title shot.

If he had gone off and beaten Van Heerden, won a European title and looked like he was genuinely improving then a case could be made for this.

I wouldn't enjoy watching Brook smash him up.

He can and will, you can already see the tactic is to continue slating Amir for not having the bottle and that Kell will now fight a British boxer whose got the guts for it etc

Brook isn't exactly a dominant or outstanding champion (yet) and although Gavin hasn't fought (and won) at world class he isn't a young pro so is a good opportunity for him. Maybe Gavin is the kind of fighter that needs something like this to lift him?

So for what its worth I think a decent fight between two good level British fighters.
