State Of Aussie Boxing?

Ive been thinking about this thread.
Aussie boxing is in good shape i think. Big crowd at Malvern Town Hall 2 weeks ago.
Sure Elite boxers are few and far between but every now and then we find one.
Billy Dib is fighting in Japan against a real champion.
Dan Geale is fighting cotto
The big guy Lucas is hovering around the top 20 as a heavyweight which is encouraging.
Mundine and Trout
All these guys garner attention all over the boxing world
When they fight and they all have a chance.
If i have one problem with Aussie boxing it is why promotors who always take the easy way and line up an endless supply of Philipinos who have no real chance. It wastes our young fighters valuable time and their chances to improve.
Let them lose against a good opponent once in a while. You will get the punters plus we will get tougher fighters

Australian boxing has been blessed with some great champions along the way. Fenech, Rose, Famechon, Carothers, Mattioli, Ellis, Harding, Peden, Tszyu & Darchinyan and Geale, just to name a few.

It is certainly going through lean times at the moment. But that can change fairly quickly of course. A win by Geale over Cotto is the sort of shot in the arm it needs right now and the progression of Lucas Browne also.

Darchinyan is Armenian and Tszyu is Russian.

Can't see him saying anywhere that they were Australian born. Just that our country had been blessed with them.

Quite correct and we have indeed been blessed to have had champions here who were born here, and overseas.
