He beat Tyszu for the lineal championship. Who did he lose it to? His only loss pre Pacquiao was Floyd at 147. Hatton was still the man to beat at 140.

This thread is a fine example of current scenes ability to talk absolute shite to discredit someone they don't like....

'Pacquaio is only a 3 weight world champion and Ricky Hatton wasn't the #1 fighter at 140 when they fought'.... And I think they believe it when they say it too.

Alright, since you are trying to be the voice of truth.

How many do YOU credit Manny with?

My main point is you only look like a moron when you cherry pick what information you want to use and what you want to discard depending on the version of truth you wish to present to the forum. Be consistent across the board. If you have a problem with ABC belts, that's fine, don't recognise them. If you have a problem with ring belts that's fine too, don't recognise them. If you have a problem with guys winning titles against none title holders, that's fine, don't recognise them, but be consistent. Too many people on CS reek of hypocrisy and do everything they can to revise history and crowbar facts to fit agendas like a 2nd rate university student trying to sound intelligent. Its tedious and ridiculously transparent.

For me, I'm happy to recognise Manny as an 8 weight world champion, since trying to decipher where one ABC lineage begins and another ends is really not something I care all that much about. He has been world class in every weight class he has competed in and been the #1 man in most of those. That's enough for me. If I start delving too deep into his world titles then I have to do that with every fighter and I have to start to acknowledge that all those guys that fought for an ABC after someone had vacated aren't really world champions. Or maybe if there is a legitimate #1 in a division and someone else holds an ABC, I have to acknowledge they aren't a world champion. Either that or I could just do what you do and highlight the deficiencies in the sport and concept of world champion when it pertains to a fighter I want to discredit....

Actually, it is not me coming across as cretinous.

First of all, I did not say I personally think Manny only has 3 belts.

What I wrote was about varying personal preferences, not necessarily my own.

What stopped you from seeing or understanding that?

For example, if you actually read what I wrote, you'd see that I recognize ring belts.

No way I do that and only have Manny with 3.

And for the record, it is not so much an attempt to discredit anyone as it is to state facts.

Clear, concise, irrefutable facts.

Lastly, if you recognize Manny as an 8 weight world champion, you should NEVER call yourself a boxing fan.

It was a farce in so many ways, but mostly because neither guy had any legitimate claim to the belt.

I'll ask you the same question I posed in what I wrote...If the WBC said whoever wins May 2 is its new cruiserweight champ would you count that as an additional legit belt for the winner?

That is exactly what you are doing when you say Pacquiao is an 8 weight champion.

You are giving him credit for something he did not earn and does not deserve.

You are a Pac fan, plain and simple. And after May 2, we probably wont see you much

Also, I changed my mind about Pacquaio, your argument won me over.... I'll start pretending he's a 3 weight world champion too.

Pacquiao is a legitimate 7 division world champion. His JMW title is bogus though.

I agree. 7 titles is extremely impressive.

It is, but him starting his pro career at such a young age plays a pretty big roll in how he was able to compete in the lower divisions. IMO he also had some other help along the way as he fought above the SFW division, but that's just speculation. Although I think the way his head grew after that first loss to Morales is very suspect and how he was able to gain so much muscle mass in such a short period of time after the Diaz fight. It can't be proven, yet, but it's pretty obvious to me.

Just like I thought.

Couldn't answer one simple question, could you?

I believe you said this:

Who's cherry picking now?

At the end of the fuucking day Manny won 8 world titles in 8 divisions.

If you wanna nit pick his accomplishments then we can fuucking do that to every single prize fighter who ever laced them up.

Nuff said.

Why are you linking some crappy BN24 opinion piece? I gave you an authoritative link, Hatton was lineal/Ring champ before Pac. In fact his previous opponent Paulie had just made a defense of the IBF belt, then didn't pay the sanctioning fee vs Hatton.

Manny and Ricky fought for the IBO title.

Be my guest and answer the same question.

As a matter of fact, ANY fan can answer this.

If on Monday, the WBC or other sanctioning body said the Mayweather-Pacquiao winner was its new Super Golden Cruiserweight champ, would that mean the winner won a belt in another weight class?

See, I have a problem with it when fact is stated so simply a 5 year old could figure it out, yet folks choose to cling to the lie anyway.

Someone tell me why Pac's win over 'Cheato at 150 lbs for a 154 lb belt with neither one of them ranked in the top 100 in the division is legit.

You do that, I will call him an 8 division champ.

Surely you are not comparing fighting the 2nd or 3rd ranked guy IN DIVISION to fighting for a belt in a division you aren't even ranked in or have never even fought in, are you?

Do you know what it is?

Do you know a fighter can satisfy his so called mandatory via "voluntary defenses" without fighting another champion or even the #1 contender with some sanctioning bodies, right?

You are blaming Mayweather when you should be pointing at the sanctioning bodies.

But, they are not stupid. You strip a guy, you don't get any fees.
