I think this fight was wrong timing
Leapai need a couple of easy fights to give him confidence
to get off his losing streak
not to say he is going to win or lose his next fight
but still be a good idea
I agree. It's a shame this comes before the Meunier fight and not after.

Will be interesting to see what weight Leapai comes in at. He is tending to get heavier with every fight.

The trend continues for Leapai - weighed in at a new personal 'best' 252 pounds!!
Charr weighed in at an almost personal 'best' 252 pounds.

According to the Courier Mail, Alex has not had the best preparations:
Because of visa problems Leapai and his trainer Noel Thornberry did not arrive in the Russian capital until Wednesday afternoon, giving them less than 72 hours to prepare to fight the 192cm Lebanese-born strongman who now lives in the German city of Cologne.

Hardly the ideal preparation only arriving in Moscow 72 hours before the fight and weighing in heavier than ever before.

I think Leapai arrived in Russia on the 19th.
Weigh-in was the 21st.
Fight is on the 22nd.
It is currently the 22nd in Russia and about 1.30pm. Meaning the fight is probably about 8 or 9 hours away?

Leapai went the distance. But Charr took the points.

Following Leapai's loss :
“We’re looking at securing a fight with Lucas Browne in Australia and Joseph Parker in New Zealand as soon as we can.”

Courier Mail reports:
..... Leapai, 35, the former Logan truck driver who last year became the first Australian to fight for the world heavyweight title in more than a century, suffered his third successive defeat following losses to world champ Wladimir Klitschko and slick American Malik Scott.
Charr, 30, who scored his 28th win in 31 fights at the Luzhniki Olympic Stadium, exploited his 10cm height advantage and a superior workrate to dominate most of the exchanges from the midway point of the fight.
The German, who was born in Lebanon, took the decision 98-94, 100-90 and 97-92.
He was so confident of victory that he did a cartwheel across the ring to end Round 7.
But in the 8th Leapai roared back, landing a big left hook and then almost throwing himself off the canvas as he launched a massive right that missed.
“We took the fight on short notice and it showed,” Leapai’s trainer Noel Thornberry told The Sunday Mail.
“Alex had trouble putting punches together in combinations and that’s just from a lack of match fitness.
“But it was still a creditable performance against a top heavyweight and Alex has a lot more wins still in him.
“We’re looking at securing a fight with Lucas Browne in Australia and Joseph Parker in New Zealand as soon as we can.”
Looks like Alex is after two last money fights before hanging up the gloves.
