Before nearly every fight he's had over the last decade or so I've seen a sizeable number of predictions that he'll win by stoppage, but of course in the large majority of those bouts he never came close to stopping his opponent despite repeatedly hitting them flush. I regularly see people suggest that his power is underrated but in my opinion it's more likely overrated; even the oft-maligned Amir Khan only needed about a minute to drop Maidana, something Mayweather didn't accomplish over 24 rounds.
Those were the same people saying Floyd would do a Gatti on Maidana. Now all of a sudden Maidana is suddenly a better fighter than Pacquiao

The only thing that makes me even think about a KO either way is that both aren't naturally welterweights and fight opponents that are much bigger when they get into the ring, it's possible that when faced with an opponent that's a similar weight in the ring, both fighters could carry enough power to hurt the other.

Newsflash!! IMHO Floyd has already lost (Castillo 1) and I'm still a fan, in fact I've been a fan since he was in the AMs.
You don't know jack about MY kind.

But then, I was also heard to remark that there was no way Marquez would ever knock Pacquiao out, so... what are you gonna do.

This will look like the Gatti fight except Gatti took a punch much better.
The current worst version of Pacquiao is better than the best Arturo Gatti ever was. While entertaining, the notion that Gatti was one of the best of his era would be a joke.
I don't disagree with you as far as Pac being much better.
But stylistically, this will actually be worse.
Because Manny doesn't press and trying to stay in the kitchen; he tries to speed in and out.
Once Floyd gets a feel for him , it's over.
And that won't take long.

I respect you a lot more than I used to with that comment. Honestly, good luck tomorrow night. We're both clearly rooting for opposing outcomes but i think that we can both agree that we hope to see some magic tomorrow night.

Badhusker wrote:To me what makes this an interesting fight is the awkwardness of Pacquiao. It has been said, but Mayweather has not encountered a guy that is so unpredictable. It's so much harder to time a guy and counter a guy when he does things so erratic. Pac's weird style will be a challenge for Floyd to figure out. Its funny to hear that Roach and Pac have this precise game plan, and style adjustments planned to counter Floyd's every move. A lot of it is Roach being in full retard mode.
I think everyone knows pretty much what Pac is going to bring. What the big question mark is what type of style will Floyd choose to bring? Will he stop Pac in his tracks and school him like he did Canelo, or lay on the ropes like he did in Maidana I? I think - my prediction - is the first 2, 3, 4 rounds will be Hagler-Hearns like, with Floyd finishing Pac in the mid to late rounds. I think Pac will force Floyd to actually fight, and later regret it because he brought out he best in Floyd.
Pacquaio is pretty predictable, he comes in and out in straight lines, it's the speed at which he does it, and the speed of his punches that cause problems.
If Mayweather is able to time those surges and counter with regularity, Manny has serious problems.
I do agree though that if Floyd is forced to stand and fight, which I think is possible, there could be some serious surprises for those watching.

He has quick feet, but he tends to come in and back out in a straight line.

I hope we see some magic too and I'm a fan of Floyd's no doubt but not one blinded by fandom (or fanDUMB), I call all fights as fair as possible whether I like a fighter or not an if my favorites lose and get a gift then I will say so because I'm a real boxing fan, not some simpleminded nuthugger like Ricky (just messing with you Vicky).

I really think the fight is going to be a stinker.....I hope I'm wrong!!!!
I think it will be even worse than that. Stinker of the Century, perhaps.
