To be fair I'd fight 15 Mayweathers for a fraction of the money they are getting! Take my beating then it's spending time :yay:

A guy in the work reckons Pacquiao kos Mayweather in 3 "coz he's the bestest"

"Tyson was the best ever"

"I prefer UFC,where the best fight the best all the time"

He has a point on the last one mind you,its funny I like boxing to get as much exposure as possible but when a big fights gets hyped I long for the bluster to pass

Guy I used to go school with posted on Facebook
"It should be a cracker! I think Mayweather will do him"
Obviously not aware that Floyd victories usually= 12 round snore fests. I didn't have a go though as he has paid his 20 quid so is entitled to his opinion, no matter how flawed.

I can't talk though, I always go Rugby mad when it's the six nations or World cup, yet I couldn't tell you which clubs most of the players play for.

One guy at work said to me the other day, "mayweather doesn't have a prayer of beating pacquio" made me cringe !

I was watching the BBC News earlier, I think it was a sport section, but the guy was saying about Froch fighting Ward, and how Ward was the only guy that has beaten Froch.

When you're job is to report the news, and like I say I think it was a sport section, I thought that was a pretty embarrassing error.

Problem is when they say "sport" they really mean football with a bit of filler.

In Bangkok right now, just been chatting to a Canadian who insisted mayweather would knock "pacqium" out within 5. When I pointed our Floyd hasn't had a legit KO since Hatton he looked at me blankly, and then started talking about how great it would be to watch the fight in Mexico. It started to dawn on me he thought manny is Mexican.

I also tried to fill him in on Adonis Stevenson, 'his champion'. I showed him a photo I found on google image search. "That's mayweather though!" He said with conviction. "No. Adonis Stevenson. He's lineal light heavyweight Champ. He's yours. He's Canadian!"
"Dennis Stevenson huh? Cool!"

One I've heard a few times is that they would go crazy in the ring and be unbeatable because losing your rag makes you a better fighter

A casual fan's argument that Benn would beat Eubank because 'there is no way a guy from Brighton can ever beat a guy from West Ham' was quite amusing. He was serious too.

However, I can't talk as I only became a hardcore fan aged 15. I started getting interested in boxing aged 13 but didn't know much at the beginning, and I remember saying to a room of older boys who were talking about boxing: "I'd really like to see Barry McGuigan fight Frank Bruno."

I didn't kmow about weight divisions. I got beasted and humiliated. I was 13 mind.

Best comment is from a Rob Brady on Facebook -
"I couldn't care less about this fight, boxing hasn't been the same since Mike Tyson stopped performing, he would have knocked both these bums out in his prime".

You have got to start somewhere. I've always liked the big fights, being 35 for me I remember getting buzzed by the Lewis World Title bouts, but back when first started following wouldn't have been able to explain 10-9 rounds, point deductions, difference between UD and SD (etc...).

Probably only in the past 8 years really started to understand it all.

Also have to give a lot of thanks to Norman Mailers: The Fight for taking it to another level.

Unlike a lot of the forum I've never boxed, though have been lucky enough to see some good nights at York Hall, so very much a spectator from the stands!

Can't wait till the big one! Glad the fans who are paying £20 will see a hopefully great show, and I love the big entourage, elaborate ring walks, think it's brilliant: the contrast, as all of a sudden it's two warriors in the ring alone (er, with the ref...). On that subject can't get my head around the sterile Al Haymon PBC introductions.

I remember one woman talking about Mike Tyson. She said something along the lines of...
"the thing about Tyson is he knows how hard to hit people."
to which I replied "what do you mean?",
she responded "well, if you hit someone too hard the shock goes right through them and has no effect. When he hits them he hits just hard enough to knock them out".

Also, a bloke I was working with was talking of the build up to Hatton - Malinaggi... "I think Hatton will struggle, Malinaggi has quite a dig on him....." :OhYes:

Just stating facts! :D

Had another merryweather outing on May 3rd in vegas by a resident taxi driver. "Merryweather just ran away for 12 rounds"

I don't like taking the piss out of casual fans, the more 'casual fans' that scratch their way in to being more dedicated fans can only be good for the sport. I often find myself explaining the difference to casual fans between KO & TKO which i guess seems pretty basic. I've had to explain the differences between UD/SD/MD a few times though which feels a bit like explaining the offside rule at times.

It's not taking the piss, it's just amusing. The more people involved and following the sport the better.

I did also sit next to an Aussie last Saturday, who asked me how many rounds the main event was going to be. He was a top lad and clearly stumped up a lot of money getting to vegas and buying a ticket so definitely fair play.

The most common thing I think most of us would hear from casual fans is "who's that guy?"

'Joshua really needs to step up a level but who against? Fury & price don't bring a challenge'

A cracking comment to see this morning. While there's always a chance Joshua could win, the statement is just contradicting itself

Watched it again, he was robbed of the victory, fact, I think you may have a different interpretation of "robbed"?

I was reading a piece by Glen McCrory today, he was basically saying that AJ is fighting tomato tins and he will become unstuck very shortly in the division. Kev Johnson presents a real test ...... we know this Glen, but, BUT, when he smashes this guy KO in 6 or 7 rounds what will you say?
