I scored it to Figueroa 114-113 and the ref did make a pudendum of it he should have stamped his authority straight away instead of just moaning and puling Burns arms in the clinches,give them both a stern warningbin the middle of the ring and I think that would have made them tidy up s little because both guys were at it,Ricky was holding too much instead of boxing,it was clear he was a better boxer but he allowed Omar to drag him to his level,the ref should either stamp it out or let them be because I've never seen a fighter take as many warnings as Ricky got


I'm proud Burns was able to show he can still fight at this level and his toughness has never waned but I think he could have made things easier for himself,if I'm honest I didn't like the fight it was a mess with both guys intent on spoiling rather than fighting

Just watched the fight and scored it 115-111 to Figueroa. Very close though and a lot of the rounds could have gone either way. Old problem for Ricky- doesn't have enough power to keep people off him, otherwise he would have held a world title for longer. I thought he did well on the inside though as figeroa didn't have it all his own way in there either. Ricky started the rounds better when he was fresh, but he struggled to keep up the work rate having to fight at Figueoa's pace.

As an aside, quite disappointed to se Ricky wearing an Irish tri-colour on his shorts last night. Many of his Celtic supporting fans have tried to make his past fights into some kind of rebel do and to be fair to Ricky he hasn't encouraged this at all, so don't know why he felt the need to do that last night? unless he is trying to tap into the Irish-American market and earn another few quid fighting stateside.

He's no world beater thats for sure but he was better than Burns last night.

Figueroa has an exciting style but i feel he should hook up with a better trainer say a Robert Garcia would fit his style nicely.

He can yes, but just because you can do something it doesn't mean you have to do it! Barry McGuigan could have played up to that, but he never Ricky is not into all that pish. Despite large numbers of his hometown trying to turn his fights into republican events. He has always remained neutral and hasn't encouraged it, he hasn't alienated half of Central Scotland like some would have liked. So it is disappointing to see that now he is playing up to it.

Well surely you'll know that his Nan was Irish then and that's why he had the flag on his shorts. More than likely that the only reason he hasn't done it before is because there's a lot of people in and around Glasgow that would kick up a fuss over it because they are stupid bigots.
