Once every 3 months is ideal. No less than once every 6 months.

Personally i think the 3 month training camps at the top level is a bit excessive. Fighters need to have the fulltime dedication a top athlete needs to have. 24/7, 365 days. It's not exactly a long career and can reap big rewards so staying in top athletic shape is a must. Getting to the kind of conditioning needed for fight night, including extensive sparring etc, surely about 8 weeks is about the maximum a fighter needs. I think 4 fights per year, even for a prize fighter, is reasonable. Essentially 1 a season.

Depends on a lot of variables. I'd like fighters to be more active but a fine line between quality and quantity needs to be found. Thai's are often very active but fight a lot of weak opposition, though they admittedly get paid very little to fight, but on the other hand I'd rather see a guy stay busy than sit on the side.

3 times a year against good opponents would be good, 4 would be ideal, 5 if you blow away an opponent.

It was interesting listening to Carl Froch in an IFL interview when he was in Vegas for Mayweather - Pacquiao, he kept extending how long he needs his training camp to be. He started off with him saying he would need 2 months, then he said 10 weeks later on in the interview and then said he would need 3 months notice before his next opponent.

I dont know if it was Carl Froch just talking or if he needs longer training camps now he is a bit older but 3 months seems a bit excessive.

I swear at one point he said he would need 16 weeks notice before a fight, but maybe I have remembered that wrong. I do remember thinking at the time is he on a wind up, but I dont think he was. I would find the video but it was a while ago now and was 20 odd minutes long.

This. Brook is fighting twice in two months, but he won't see 12 rounds out of both fights combined. I'd rather see a champ fight once a year against a proper top contender, than four times a year against the Jo Jo Dan's and Frankie Gavin's of this world.
