I think if Groves wins his next fight then Hearn will manage to get together another PPV including Groves and Degale on Froch or Brooks undercard against weak voluntary opponents designed to make them look good. I don't think the Groves of the DeGale fight, or Froch I, is ever coming back. If the first Froch fight didn't ruin him psychologically, the second will have.

Do people give Degale a good shot against Froch?

I can't see it. Ability wise I can almost make a case for him but if he tries to take his foot off the pedal and coast for 4 rounds in the middle of the bout Froch will grind him into the canvas.

I think Degale can get the better of Froch in spells and would win some rounds but I don't see him being able to keep it up for 12 rounds and I don't see him having the dig to deter Froch either. He would need to do one of those things to a have a good shot at beating him.

It just depends on how age affects Froch. Froch at his best destroys DeGale, but he's not getting any younger. If he gets old overnight, DeGale wins. If not, he loses.

I agree with davie, DeGale is a very good boxer and tough but if he slows down for 3 or 4 rounds with Froch he'll get mown down.

To be fair to him, he was a total knob the last time he fought Groves, but I think his mental age is now that of someone in their late teens & not early teens, & he no longer seems as immature, so I don't think he'll be waffling about Groves being ugly next time around.

Froch doesn't need Degale.

He has nothing to prove & the way he's talking, his heart is not 100% in the sport anymore.

Froch needs a blockbuster finale, or he needs to walk away.

I enjoyed Froch's punditry the other night, he came across really well, he's intelligent an he seemed comfortable.

DeGale took a few good shots from Groves, he is a tough and competitive man.

Hearn will be stewing around thinking how he can turn DeGale into a cash cow that appeals to football fans so I expect something along the lines of what he's doing with Joshua now DeGale has a world title. Joshua is the next Tyson, DeGale they'll probably market as the British Mayweather while lining up some cannon fodder for him and put it on PPV.

I feel froch will only fight again if its in vegas...the venue is more important than the opponent. Froch would fight degale/golovkin/Adonis/ward....in vegas!!

yeah I agree. I think Froch could win OR lose versus Degale. If Degale faded in the middle like he did against Dirrell (or so I've read), then the ring with Froch is not a great place to be. However, Carl said in his book he had a hard time getting motivated to fight George Groves at first - and puts that down to getting battered about the ring by him in their first fight....so based on that, I'd say he'd struggle to get "up" for Jimmy D.

Also I'd rather not see Groves have to rematch Degale, again. I could see the poor lad getting beat, possibly, which ain't nice against a mouthy rival who you have twice beaten! Still, if it pays........

Surely as froch is the main attraction, with the pedigree, status etc and also not needing the fight, surely he will be expecting at least 70% of the pot?

It's a bit like Khan against Mayweather. Khan might make more than usual against Mayweather but he'll have a figure put in front of him and he can take it or leave it.

Khan won't get near $10m from mayweather and degale won't get £2m from froch. They have nothing to bargain with and need mayweather/froch too much.

EDIT - Looking back on what i've written, the figures mentioned are big. However, i doubt either would be content to take the fights on the basis of receiving so (relatively) little.

Groves stands much more of a chance with Adam Booth in the corner I don't think this current Groves can beat this current Degale and I even think he is losing out on a massive pay day by fighting B jack as I think its a dangerous fight.... Groves Vs Degale should just get it on for 1 Belt. I can easily see 50k people turning out plus PPV... Degale will be too clever for him this time if he keeps emotions out of the ring

Maybe Groves is just his 'bogeyman'? They say there is always someone out there who has your number. Kinda like Vernon Forrest with Shane Mosely. I wouldn't class Forrest as being better than Shane but still managed to beat him twice and in the amateurs too I think? If Goves/DeGale fought again I would favour DeGale on current form but then again maybe DeGales style is just something that Groves is comfortable with?

Perfect scenario for me would be for Chunky to beat his mandatory then take AA on (hopefully winning that also on PTS) then put his 2 belts up against Groves' WBC (Groves is capable of beating Jack no doubt) in a huge all British unification rematch. Could potentially be bigger than Brook Khan.

It's not luck mate, Smith is world Class (even if he says so himself).

Just check out his record, he has beat some top top lads since he lost to Degale - the least he deserves is another World Title shot (preferably in Liverpool).
