The biggest name in UFC as of right now is Ronda Rousy and that's because she beats everyone up in 2 seconds. Boxing is one of those sports that only needs one special knockout artist to get the buzz back.

Randy Couture

Hardly compares to B-Hop, turned pro late at 23yr's old because he was killing some time so to speak

as been a fighter
for 26yr's engaged in 64 bout's half of those WORLD TITTLE FIGHT'S so that's 32 WTF'S to be exact MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMP FOR OVER 10YR'S
Ever hear about bloke named Willy Pep fighter for 26yr's engaged in 241 pro fight's,Archie Moore another example of a CHAMPION BOXER
Engaged in 219 pro fight's fought on for 28yr's NO MAN EVER USED THEIR FIST TO KO MORE MEN THAN HE DID 131 VICTIM'S
And their's another 50 or more boxer's I could bring up, But anyway what i'm talking about IS LONGEVITY it sorts out the CHAMPION'S from the LEGEND'S......I found his UFC record 19-11,So Randy Couture was a great UFC fighter i'm not doubting that but comparing him to B-Hop well thats silly.......... :?? why because a boxer's career has more LONGEVITY.

First of all, I haven't talking any "shi". Boxing is my second favorite sport (behind strongman), MMA is in my top ten.
Second of all, Randy Couture is still the answer
Third of all, you clearly know nothing about MMA so unless you want to continue making yourself look like a fool, you should leave the commenting to those in the know, as it were.

I don't think the notion of MMA taking over boxing has anything to do with how many people watch both sports. Because the reality is, each sport will draw a healthy amount of fans of combat sports along with a nice percentage of fans who enjoy the one over the other. They have both coexisted for awhile now and neither seems to be going away, on the contrary, they probably help each other.
The way in which one might usurp the other lies in which sport continues to draw more participants. It seems like a lot of MMA gyms are open all over the place, though that could quickly dissipate if MMA loses its appeal. Conversely, amateur boxing in the US at least seems to be in trouble constantly in recent years. Moreover, it doesn't seem like there are as many thriving boxing gyms around as in generations past. The dwindling of either sport will come from a drop off in participation. People will always watch both, in my opinion.

So you're saying that it would be really easy for boxers who have spent their entire lives just boxing to be able to learn to attack & defend elbows, kicks, knees, takedown & throws & then on the ground various positions & then of course the many technical submissions BUT it would be completely impossible for MMA fighters who already train striking to focus on just their boxing skills to the point they could hang with a boxer?
You sir are an idiot.

Top boxers would get destroyed by top MMA's fighters in the octagon in just the same way that top MMA fighters would get embarrassed by top boxer's in the ring.

What you and quite a few other posters have said is only partially right: boxing in America has suffered and will suffer from the consequence of that "event". Elsewhere, life goes on. America is still a very important part of the boxing world, but it's nowhere near as crucial to the sport's overall health as it was 30 or 40 years ago.
Carl Froch's last fight had 80,000 spectators. Ricky Hatton and a few others since can sell out any venue in the UK. Wladimir Klitschko, Abraham and a few Germans can sell out any venue in Germany, Austria and neighbouring countries. Boxing has taken off in China and already the TV audiences for the best known boxer make Mayweather seem anonymous. Thanks mainly to Pacquiao, boxing has never been bigger in the Philippines. Meanwhile, UFC remains a fringe sport in these markets.

Why does the fact I proved your example false bother you so much? And yes, strongman is a great sport. I'd tell you to try it, but we both know why that wouldn't work

All boxing has over the UFC is AGE that's it!!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUIJMdYZmyI Watch this one!! The excitement about the UFC
is you learn what to do in a REAL LIFE situation how to subdue a man! If the guy is stronger than you and punches harder you can take his back
and wear him out choking him from behind all sorts of ways to win a REAL FIGHT.
Go try shoulder rolling your way when someone tries to car jack you! Try it and see how that goes!!!!!

Won championships in his 40's, like you said would never happen in MMA. It's alright to be wrong, one would think you'd be used to it by now.

These mma vs boxing discussions are ridiculous. Each have their place in the world. And as stated earlier, they help each other out. It's the close minded fans that state one is better than the other in a matter of fact way.

And yes, I am aware that this is a boxing site. Believe it or not, that's actually why I registered here; because I love boxing. Isn't that strange?

I'm a fan of both but boxing will always be top for me. Like boxing UFC has its fair share of snorefests. Boxing has a real deep history and bigger pool of fighters. The only thing I like with UFC is they don't seem afraid to match the top guys together where boxers can avoid people for years. Oh and the UFC ring card girls aren't bad either.
