no he didn't. that fight was for both the newly created WBC 168lb title AND lalonde's WBC 175.
it couldn't have been for the 168 if they were over that limit.
lalonde weighed 167, just under the limit. no catch.
leonard weighed in wearing long pants with stuff in his pockets after eating breakfast
and was still like 5lbs under the limit.

Shame on boxing. The lineal Middleweight Champion of the world sets a catchweight 3 pounds less than the division calls for. That is beyond pathetic. Boxing should have stepped in and said that the lowest you can set any fight's weight limit is 160lbs. That's like Kovalev beating Wlad for the heavyweight title and then setting a weight limit of 180 for his first title defense. Cotto, if you don't want to defend the title legitimately then give the title up.

I've had it with this punk. I guarantee that we are going to see a stand in tomorrow night. Cotto clearly states that if he doesn't make the weight to the ounce, he's not fighting him. Cotto is the luckiest fighter in the world...he gets a title shot with Sergio when his knees finally give out on him. Cotto has lost EVERY big fight he's been in and now he's holding the belt hostage. I hope the stand in tomorrow night knocks Cotto's head off so we can finally be done with this prick.

If Cotto does win tomorrow night, I will be Floyd's number one fan in the next one and I hope Floyd demolishes him.

I agree with all this,it's shocking that he sets a weight limit,i bet it's Roach's idea.

Geale was very weak at 157..

Cotto came in at 153,6. He weighed in as a light middleweight yet he is fighting for the lineal and WBC middleweight championships. WHAT A F#CKING JOKE. Vacate the title really, he will do a catchweight against canelo, and certainly will request one if he EVER dares to face GGG.

What a joke boxing has become.

Maybe he wants to have an excuse for losing ? Poor light middle fighting a huge MW

P.S. Geale didn't look exhausted to me at all.
